The process of scar formation

The process of scar formation

Scars are a common skin problem that many people have experienced. Of course, scars can be divided into serious and less serious ones, and there are also depressed scars and hypertrophic scars. No matter which type of scar it is, there is a certain formation process. Of course, the treatment methods for different scars are also different, so as to achieve the effect of effective and thorough treatment of scars!

1. Causes of scar formation

In life, some careless accidents will leave scars on your body. Scars, also known as cicatrix, are tissues formed by the body's self-repair after the skin is injured. They are often higher or lower than the normal skin surface, and their color is different from normal skin color.

Generally speaking, the larger and deeper the wound, the more severe the scar. Due to the influence of factors such as hormone levels, people are more likely to suffer from severe scars during adolescence, while in infancy, middle-aged and elderly people, scars left by trauma are relatively light.

2. The process of scar formation

From the time a wound begins to heal to the final formation of a scar, the wound is constantly changing. At the beginning, the wound will be slightly red and swollen. At this time, you should pay attention to prevent infection and do not let the wound be pulled or compressed by external force. After the formation of highly tough fibers, the tensile strength of the wound increases, the scar becomes light red, the surface is slightly raised and looks hard. At this time, we will feel unbearable itching. Dexamethasone and other drugs can be used to relieve the itching, but do not scratch. Let the scab fall off naturally and eat less irritating food to avoid further stimulation of scar proliferation.

After the scab falls off naturally, the skin scar begins to gradually "fade", becoming darker than normal skin color, or a lighter pink-white color. The scar is flatter and more flexible than before. Under normal circumstances, the proliferation period of scars is generally 3 to 6 months. During this period, the scars may continue to "grow", become larger in size or darker in color. But if the scar continues to grow after more than 6 months, it is very likely that you have a scar-prone constitution.

3. Treatment methods for scars

During the scar formation process, some physical or chemical methods can reduce the severity of the scar. The physical method mainly involves applying continuous pressure on the scar; the chemical method involves applying drugs such as Kangruibao, Shuhen, and Centella asiatica ointment on the surface of the scar, and you can also apply Mepiform, silicone dressings, etc. on the surface of the scar.
