Are braces effective for straightening teeth?

Dental braces, as the name suggests, are a device that can correct teeth. For people with crooked teeth, it is a good way to correct teeth. It can be said that wearing dental braces is very effective, but in the process of wearing them, in order to avoid bacterial infection of the teeth, you must clean the braces in time. In addition, there are some other precautions!

1. The role of dental braces

Dental braces are very useful because they can help align teeth. Although you may feel that there are a lot of strange things on your teeth after wearing them, you should try to endure it even though it is uncomfortable, because dental braces are so important. Once they are removed, the teeth will return to their original shape, and all your previous efforts will be wasted. But it can also be harmful to your teeth. The dental braces are glued to the teeth by the doctor and cannot be removed at will. If you don't clean every corner of your teeth carefully when brushing your teeth, a lot of food debris may be contaminated on your dental braces, and bacteria will settle on your teeth. If dental braces are not worn properly, they may cause many dental diseases. Unfortunately, these situations are unavoidable. No matter how good or advanced the dental braces are, if they are not properly cleaned and cared for, they will cause premature aging of the teeth.

So when faced with dental braces, we can only endure it again and again. Remember that you will only wear braces for a few years, and after they are removed, you will have a set of beautiful, straight teeth. But be careful to clean your teeth several times a day during the wearing period and never give bacteria any chance to grow.

2. How to clean the appliance

First, patients should master the correct brushing method under the guidance of a doctor and develop a good habit of brushing their teeth immediately after each meal.

Second, at each follow-up visit, the doctor should carefully check the patient's oral hygiene, remove the archwire, thoroughly clean the tooth surface and appliance accessories, and perform oral cleaning if necessary. When it is found that the patient has gingivitis, the medication should be rinsed off immediately.

Third, some fluoride-containing preparations can be used clinically to coat the tooth surface to enhance the tooth's anti-caries ability. Patients can also use some mouthwashes regularly to keep their mouths clean and prevent infection.

3. Notes

Soft drinks contain sticky sugars (which break down into acid) that easily adhere to the surface of teeth, especially those with braces. In order to keep the brackets or bands of the braces firmly bonded to the teeth, the tooth surface is etched with acid to remove the outer protective enamel of the tooth. This makes the teeth extremely susceptible to acid attack. Acid softens tooth texture, promotes the formation of dental plaque, and further erodes tooth enamel, leading to tooth caries and tooth decalcification.

Soda should be consumed in moderation. Don't drink all day long. If you drink soda alone or between meals, you need to brush your teeth or at least rinse your mouth with water afterward. Although table soda is low in sugar, like all sodas, it contains phosphoric acid, which is harmful to teeth. So, it also received attention.
