Remedial measures for poor embryo development

Remedial measures for poor embryo development

If the embryo does not develop well, it may lead to fetal maldevelopment. In more serious cases, it may lead to miscarriage, stillbirth and other manifestations. Therefore, when the embryo is found to be poorly developed during the examination, as an expectant mother, you must emphasize nutrition and conduct obstetric examinations in time. There are many reasons for poor embryo development. For example, some bad habits in daily life can easily lead to poor embryo development.

What to do if the embryo does not develop well

Poor fetal growth and development is traditionally defined as an embryonic weight below the 10th percentile of the average weight for gestational age or below 2 standard deviations of the average weight. High-risk pregnant women should be examined early to detect diseases that affect fetal growth and development, such as gestational hypertension, early so that there is sufficient time to treat them before the embryo is damaged. Eliminate all factors that may lead to poor fetal development: such as smoking, drug addiction, malnutrition or picky eating. In addition, uterine blood flow can be increased, such as lying on the left side. The embryo should be monitored systematically, such as regular or weekly fetal heart rate monitoring or ultrasound. If problems are discovered and early induction of labor is required, the patient should go to a hospital with better medical conditions.

After treatment, if the embryo growth and placental function are good, the pregnancy can be continued, but it is not recommended to exceed the due date. If treatment is ineffective and embryo-placental function tests show abnormalities, the pregnancy should be terminated as soon as possible. In the following situations, cesarean section should be performed immediately to end delivery: ① NST is unreactive and CST is positive. ② Ultrasound determination shows that the amniotic fluid is too oligohydramnios and has meconium stain of degree II or above. ③ Pregnant mothers with retarded embryos who have other high-risk factors, severe conditions, or obstetric abnormalities.

Causes of poor embryo development

Pregnant women factors : 1. 40% of the difference in fetal weight comes from the genetic factors of the parents, with the genetic factors of the pregnant woman having a greater impact, which is related to the pregnant woman's pre-pregnancy weight, age at pregnancy, and number of parities. If the pre-pregnancy weight is less than 54kg, or the weight during pregnancy is too small or too large, the chance of intrauterine growth retardation increases. 2. Malnutrition of pregnant women, especially insufficient supply of protein and energy, long-term hypoxemia or poor oxygen transport capacity, pregnancy complicated by kidney disease, severe anemia, severe heart disease, pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome, chronic hypertension and other chronic vascular diseases, affect uterine and placental blood flow and function, leading to fetal malnutrition, immune diseases, endocrine diseases, and infectious diseases can all affect fetal growth and development. 3. In addition, when pregnant women have bad habits such as smoking, alcoholism, drug abuse, and their social and economic conditions are poor, the chance of intrauterine growth retardation of the fetus also increases.

Fetal factors : 1. The fetus suffers from genetic diseases or chromosomal history, and intrauterine growth retardation occurs earlier, such as abnormal chromosome number and structure, with trisomy 21, 18, or 13, Turner syndrome, etc. being more common. 2. Infection with pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria or viruses, such as fetal rubella virus, cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex virus, Toxoplasma gondii, Treponema pallidum, etc., can lead to intrauterine growth retardation of the fetus. 3. Twin pregnancy can also lead to intrauterine growth retardation of the fetus.
