In vitro fertilization is a method of reproduction that many couples use in order to have their own children. They fertilize the baby in vitro and then transplant the successfully cultured embryo into the mother's uterus to promote the development of the fetus. This is an effective way to treat infertility, and is especially suitable for men with fallopian tube obstruction, severe oligospermia, women with endometriosis, and patients with ovulation disorders! So, how long does it take to prepare for IVF?

How many days of leave do I need to take for IVF ?

The initial checkup for IVF normally takes 1-2 months, during which time you will go to the hospital more frequently. But you don’t need to take a long vacation. From the start of ovulation induction, you have to go to the hospital every now and then to do BC monitoring of follicles. After egg retrieval, you basically have to rest. How long you rest depends on your physical condition. You definitely cannot go to work for 3 days after the transplant. After that it depends on the individual.

Preparations for IVF

To do in vitro fertilization, you must have a marriage certificate, the couple’s ID cards and a birth permit.

The man needs to have his semen tested, and the woman also needs to complete some basic examinations, such as gynecological examination, curettage, fallopian tube permeability test, antisperm antibodies, liver function and hepatitis B two-to-a-half test, routine blood analysis and coagulation time and basic endocrine hormone measurement (3rd day of menstruation), etc. If there are no abnormalities, the doctor will create a medical record for you and tell you when to enter the cycle and start IVF treatment.

Generally, the medication is started in the mid-luteal phase, that is, on the 21st day of menstruation, to keep the gonadotropin level in the body at a low level. Menstruation will occur about 8 days after the medication. On the 3rd-7th day of menstruation, intramuscular injection of drugs that promote follicle development is started. After 3 days, B-ultrasound is used to monitor the development of follicles and adjust the dosage of the medication. Follicle-stimulating drugs are used for about 10 days. When the follicles are mature, the eggs can be removed by transvaginal vault puncture under the guidance of B-ultrasound, and artificial insemination is performed in vitro. After 3 days of culture, the fertilized eggs develop into embryos and are placed in the uterine cavity. After transplantation, rest in bed for 2-4 hours. The whole process is very painless and generally does not require hospitalization.
