Ointment for treating herpes at the corners of mouth

Herpes is one of the more common diseases in life. It is mainly caused by getting angry. It may also be caused by bacterial infection due to not wiping the mouth clean. The symptoms are blisters at the corners of the mouth. Generally, topical medications are used for treatment. Pay attention to your eating habits in life, eat light food, and avoid spicy and irritating foods. This article briefly introduces how to treat herpes at the corners of the mouth.

About the cause: Many people think that blisters at the corners of the mouth are caused by "getting angry" and should be treated by "reducing heat". This is actually herpes labialis. Oral herpes is caused by infection with the "herpes simplex virus", which is called "getting angry" in traditional Chinese medicine. It often occurs on the lips and corners of the mouth. It is caused by factors such as colds, fever, fatigue, lack of sleep, depression, tension and anxiety, which lead to a decrease in immunity and the herpes virus lurking in the body to multiply, resulting in blisters at the corners of the mouth and the onset of the disease. There is a burning sensation at the beginning, followed by clustering of blisters, erosion, and scabs. The course of the disease is about one week and it may relapse. Needle-head-sized blisters often appear on the oral mucosa, usually in a group, but sometimes in two or three groups. There is a mild burning sensation, which may "heal on its own" or "recur" in about a week. If herpes occurs due to improper adjustment of the body's immune mechanism or secondary infection after rupture, the course of the disease will be prolonged.

treat:

General antiviral drugs, such as ribavirin and viracil, can be used to treat herpes simplex, but acyclovir is the most effective among them. Because acyclovir has a special affinity for viruses, it is easily taken up by the herpes virus and triggers a chemical reaction inside the virus, thereby inhibiting viral replication. In the early stages of blisters at the corners of the mouth, applying acyclovir eye ointment twice a day can have a good auxiliary treatment effect. Since eye ointments are administered topically, their side effects are less than those of oral medications.

Taking acyclovir tablets can have a curative effect. Usually take 4 times during the day and once before going to bed at night, 2 tablets each time. Since acyclovir can affect the liver and kidneys, it is best to drink plenty of water while taking the medicine to avoid the effects of the drug on the kidneys. People with liver and kidney dysfunction should use it with caution.

5% acyclovir ointment or 0.1% bubble rash cream can be applied externally, and the effect is better if applied alternately with piyanping ointment. If there is infection, add chloramphenicol ointment.

Ribavirin injection (viravir) wet compress: Use medical cotton balls or cotton swabs, or a small piece of gauze to soak in ribavirin injection and apply it to the affected area for 15 minutes each time, 3 to 5 times a day. Traditional Chinese medicine for clearing heat and detoxifying, such as Niuhuang Jiedu Tablets, Xiaoyan Jiedu Pills, etc., can be taken orally.

Preventing recurrence of herpes labialis:

Ensure adequate sleep, eat more fresh vegetables, supplement various vitamins, and drink plenty of water to enhance the body's immunity and prevent the occurrence of herpes.

Strengthen oral hygiene, rinse your mouth with light salt water after eating, rinse your teeth with salt water before going to bed, the effect is very good, and do not eat after brushing your teeth. Change your toothbrush frequently to prevent virus residue on the toothbrush and cause multiple herpes. Avoid eating foods rich in arginine, such as chocolate, cola, peas, cereals, peanuts, cashews, beer, etc.

Exercise can strengthen the immune system, relax the mind, avoid tension and relieve stress, which is beneficial for preventing and treating the recurrence of herpes simplex.
