Growths that occur in the nasal cavity. Traditional Chinese medicine calls it nasal hemorrhoids. Nasal polyps are mostly caused by a habit of eating spicy, roasted, and greasy foods, which generate damp heat; which rises to the lungs and accumulates in the nasal cavity; or by the invasion of wind-heat evil toxins into the lung meridian, which prevents the lung qi from circulating smoothly and causes it to accumulate in the nasal cavity. The main symptoms are one or more growths in the nasal cavity, with a smooth surface, pale white or reddish color, soft and painless to the touch, accompanied by persistent nasal congestion, decreased sense of smell, increased nasal discharge, headache, dizziness, etc. Treatment is mainly external. You can use borax powder, alum powder, etc., mix them with water or sesame oil, and apply them to the root of the polyp. Internal treatment should be to clear away heat and dampness, promote lung function and resolve nodules. The prescription can be Xindi Qingfei Yin, etc.

2. Common folk remedies for treating nasal polyps

1. Grind equal amounts of spider lily and brown sugar into powder and apply it to the nasal cavity.

2. Grind 0.3 grams of saltpeter and 3 grams of alum into powder and apply on the polyps without damaging the healthy nasal mucosa. Apply twice a day.

3. Grind 6 grams of realgar into powder, add appropriate amount of vegetable oil and mix, then apply to the affected area.

4. Grind 3 grams of sodium nitrate, 1 gram of talcum powder, 0.2 grams of borneol and 1 gram of realgar into very fine powder and apply to the affected area 5 to 6 times a day.

6. Take 30g each of pearl pearl, alum (burned into ashes), and cinnamon heart, and 15g of Akebia (filed), grind into fine powder, take 1.5g each time, wrap it in cotton and insert it into the nose, 3 times a day.

7. Cloves, wrap them in cotton.

8. Burn alum stone powder. Use facial cream and cotton wool to wrap it and put it in the nose. The polyps will disappear with the medicine in a few days.

9. 0.3g of old melon stem, pounded into powder. Mix mutton fat and apply a small amount on the polyp, 3 times a day.

10. Millipede. Roast with vinegar and grind into powder. Put cotton wool in the nostrils.

11. Common remedies for treating nasal polyps include 30 grams each of turmeric and pig's tooth soap beans, soak them in water for one night, cook them thoroughly over fire until the turmeric is rotten, remove the soap beans, and leave the turmeric to melt and dry, then use 15 grams of northern asarum to grind them into powder, add 3 grams each of musk and borax, mix well, burn honey to make pills as big as tea seeds, and take them with boiled tea after meals.
