The difference between flat warts and syringoma

Flat warts and syringomas are both very common diseases in daily life. Because they have many similarities, many people easily confuse them. Flat warts are a skin disease caused by human papillomavirus, while syringoma is a sweat gland tumor that differentiates into terminal sweat ducts. There are differences between the two in terms of causes of disease, high-risk populations, etc. Friends who need to know more can learn more about this.

1. The difference between flat warts and syringoma

1. Syringoma: It is a type of sweat gland tumor that differentiates into terminal sweat ducts and is a benign tumor.

Syringoma is related to endocrine system. Most patients are women. The rash often increases in size and number during pregnancy, premenstrual period or when using female hormones.

The clinical manifestations of syringoma are millet-sized, skin-colored or light brown papules with a waxy luster and slightly raised above the skin surface. They often occur on the lower eyelids and upper cheeks, and can also be seen on the chest, abdomen, limbs and genitals. They generally do not disappear on their own.

Syringoma can be treated with carbon dioxide laser or fire needle. During treatment, the tumor should be completely removed. The removed tumor will not recur, but it cannot prevent new rashes from appearing in other parts of the body.

2. Flat warts: commonly known as "warts", it is a skin disease caused by human papillomavirus. It is mainly transmitted through direct contact. Flat warts can often be seen arranged in cords along scratches.

The clinical manifestations of flat warts are skin-colored or pink flat papules that are round or oval in shape and slightly higher than the skin surface. Most of them grow scattered on the face or back of the hands.

There are various treatments for flat warts, including fire needles, ear acupuncture, Chinese medicine washing, etc., and the effects vary.

2. Western medicine treatment methods for flat warts

1. Injection of antiviral drugs:

Antiviral treatment is provided by injecting "interferon" or "polymyxin B" injection into the affected area of flat warts or the buttocks muscle.

Disadvantages: It requires a certain course of treatment, and long-term medication has certain side effects.

2. Electrocautery and laser therapy:

The wart is removed directly by burning it.

Disadvantages: It depends on the doctor's level. If the burning degree is too deep, pigmentation or scars may form.

4. Liquid nitrogen freezing:

Use low temperature to "freeze" the virus to death.

Disadvantages: May cause blisters and may leave pigmentation.

3. External application of drugs:

Imiquimod ointment, phthalide ointment, tazarotene ointment, interferon gel, etc. Some of these drugs have antiviral effects, some have exfoliating effects, and they can all achieve certain therapeutic effects.

Disadvantages: Slow onset of effect, some drugs are highly irritating.
