What reaction occurs when cola is added with detergent

What reaction occurs when cola is added with detergent

Coke is a carbonated beverage rich in caffeine that many teenagers love to drink. But I never thought that it would react with the laundry detergent we use in our daily lives. The main component of washing powder is anion. From the perspective of acidity and alkalinity, washing powder is an alkaline substance. In chemistry, acids and bases react to form salts. So what reaction will occur between Coke and laundry detergent? You can find out by looking at the analysis below.

It's probably like when you pour laundry detergent into Coke, it will appear fluorescent! Will it glow if you pour laundry detergent into Coke? Unbelievable!

Foreigners often do some strange experiments. A man did an experiment with laundry detergent. He poured out some Coke first

Then pour the laundry detergent into the Coke bottle.

After standing for an hour, sediment appeared at the bottom of the bottle.

Shake the Coke hard! Then I turned off the lights, and a blue light appeared at the bottom of the bottle! So beautiful!

It’s really unbelievable that the combination of laundry detergent and cola can produce such a reaction!

1. Working principle:

There are traditional laundry detergents, oxygen-containing laundry detergents, and laundry liquids on the market.

Oxygen-containing laundry detergent is quite popular now. It is generally larger than ordinary laundry detergent in particles, called oxygen particles. Its main component is sodium percarbonate. After sodium percarbonate enters the body and comes into contact with body fluids, it will decompose into hydrogen peroxide, carbonate and sodium ions, which are all naturally present in the human body. Since hydrogen peroxide has a strong ability to degrade in the blood and tissues, it is impossible for hydrogen peroxide to spread throughout the body.

Traditional laundry detergent and laundry liquid work on a similar principle, relying mainly on surfactants and some additives to remove dirt and clean clothes. This is because the ingredients of the two are similar, both are mainly composed of surfactants and additives, only laundry detergent adds chelating agents, solubilizers, defoaming agents, softeners, and preservatives. However, because laundry liquid contains a large amount of water, enzymes (adding enzymes can enhance detergency) are unstable in water, resulting in a relatively mild detergency, which is slightly inferior to laundry detergent.

2. How to judge whether the clothes are washed clean:

This estimate, without any scientific experiment, says there is a real standard. I usually judge by color, smell, and feel. When washing clothes, we are more focused on stains. You can check whether the original stains have returned to their original color after washing, and then smell it. I think this is very important. If the clothes have no odor, the clothes are basically clean, because bacteria and invisible stains will produce odors, especially in summer.

3. How to wash away stubborn stains:

Oxygen particle laundry is currently popular. I will introduce how to remove stubborn stains. It is relatively simple: soak the oxygen particles in warm water at 34-60 degrees, and then soak the clothes in it for about an hour. If the stains are stubborn, you can soak them for a while, and then you can easily remove the stains by scrubbing. It mainly targets blood stains, milk stains, fruit juice, cola stains, red wine stains, and oil stains. I have not tried other types of stains, so I am not sure. You can try it yourself.
