How to clean an electric blanket

How to clean an electric blanket

In winter, electric blankets are a common tool for keeping warm. Many people dare not clean them after they are dirty. After all, this is an electric heating tool, and they are afraid of leakage caused by cleaning. In fact, electric blankets can be cleaned, but it should be noted that the switch plug and the temperature adjustment part of the electric blanket cannot be exposed to water. This part should be placed outside the water. The key is to make sure it is fully dried after cleaning.

How to clean an electric blanket

First of all, electric blankets can only be washed with a hand brush. Before washing with a hand brush, the blanket surface should be soaked in clean water for a while, but the switch, plug, and thermostat of the electric blanket itself should not be soaked in water, and try to avoid splashing water. Secondly, after soaking in water, place the electric blanket flat in a clean place. When washing the fabric side, dip it in soapy water or laundry detergent or detergent, and brush along the direction of the heating wire. If the dirt is more serious, brush it several times. When washing one side of the cotton blanket, rub it gently with your hands, and try to avoid the heating wire when rubbing. After washing and rubbing, do not wring it with your hands or spin it in the washing machine's spin dryer. Instead, flatten the blanket and forcefully drive out the water, stretch out the folded parts to restore its original shape, and finally, hang it flat in a cool and ventilated place to dry. During the drying process, you should still pay attention to the shape of the electric blanket. If it is deformed, you should correct it in time. It should be noted that washing electric blankets is a last resort because they are too dirty, and washing electric blankets will affect their electrical properties. To avoid getting the electric blanket dirty, you should put a thin mattress or sheet on it during normal use, and do not sleep directly on it. This way, the electric blanket will not easily get dirty.

When not in use, please pay attention to the following points: (1) The fabrics of electric blankets are mostly made of ordinary textiles. In order to prevent moisture and mold, they should be dried before storage and then stored in a cool and dry place. They should not be placed near heat sources to prevent aging of the insulation layer of the heating element.

(2) When storing, roll up or fold the electric blanket and place it in a loose place. Do not pile heavy objects on it and avoid placing it together with sharp objects. (3) Some parts of the electric blanket are chemical products. Do not put items such as mothballs inside when storing it to avoid accelerating the aging of the plastic parts. To prevent moisture, you can put some desiccant in the electric blanket.
