What are the nursing measures for high body temperature?

In real life, high body temperature is a very common physical disease for many people. It is generally a fever caused by colds and chills. Fever is very harmful to the health of the body and can easily affect the health of the body. It needs timely treatment. Nursing measures for high body temperature are also very critical. Pay more attention to changes in body temperature and use cold compresses to cool down.

Nursing measures for patients with hyperthermia :

① Strengthen observation: Measure the temperature of patients with high fever every 4 hours. After the temperature returns to normal for 3 days, change to 1 to 2 times a day.

②Bed rest: reduce the patient's energy consumption.

③ Cooling down: If the body temperature exceeds 39.0℃, you can use ice packs to cool the head; when the body temperature exceeds 39.5℃, you can use ethanol baths, warm water baths or cold compresses on the aorta. After half an hour of medication or physical cooling, body temperature should be measured and recorded.

④ Keep warm: When the body temperature rises, the room temperature should be adjusted in time, and attention should be paid to keeping warm. Hot beverages can be drunk when necessary.

⑤ Nutrition and water supplement: Provide high-calorie, high-protein, high-vitamin easily digestible liquid or semi-liquid diet, encourage patients to eat small meals frequently and drink plenty of water to replenish the large amount of water consumed, and perform intravenous infusion or nasogastric feeding when necessary.

⑥Oral care.

⑦ Skin care: prevent the occurrence of complications such as pressure sores, pneumonia, etc.

⑧Psychological care.

Classification of fever

The rise in body temperature under pathological conditions is called fever (also known as fever). There are many reasons for fever, one of the more common reasons is that the human body is infected with pathogens, such as infectious diseases. According to the degree of temperature rise, fever can be divided into the following four types:

Low fever (below 38°C)

Moderate heat (38-39°C)

High fever (39-40°C)

Hyperthermia (above 41°C)

Pros and cons of fever

The positive side: Fever has both positive and negative effects on the human body. Fever within a certain limit is the body's physiological defense response to resist disease. At this time, the number of white blood cells increases, antibody production is active, the liver's detoxification function is enhanced, and the metabolism of substances is accelerated, which can improve the patient's resistance. These changes help eliminate pathogenic factors and restore the body to health. Therefore, in many acute diseases, an increase in body temperature often indicates that the human body has a good ability to respond.

The downside:

(1) Excessive body temperature or prolonged fever can cause some physiological disorders in patients. For example, due to dysfunction of the nervous system, patients may experience irritability, delirium, hallucinations, and even convulsions. This is more likely to happen when infants and young children have a fever.

(2) It has been proven that when the body temperature exceeds 41°C, the body temperature regulation center will lose the ability to regulate body temperature; when the body temperature reaches 43°C, the patient will die from high temperature in just a few hours.

(3) Dysfunction of the circulatory system may cause the heart rate to accelerate. Generally, for every 1°C increase in body temperature in an adult, the heart rate increases by 10 beats per minute, and for a child, it may increase by 15 beats per minute.

Fever consumes a lot of substances and energy, which are harmful to the human body.
