The difference between pulling bait and rubbing bait

The difference between pulling bait and rubbing bait

Nowadays, many people love fishing, but when it is their first time fishing, they will also have some strong interest and questions about fishing, such as what is the difference between pulling bait and rubbing bait. In fact, whether in appearance or where they are used, they will be slightly different. Some people prefer one over the other. Everyone can choose according to their own preferences, because there is no guarantee that both pulling bait and rubbing bait are suitable.

The first step in making a good bait is to grasp the ratio of bait to water.

Most powdered commercial baits need to be mixed with water. Many anglers often make the bait too thin, so that the bait cannot be formed, or the bait is too dry, making it inconvenient to use and having lumps. The reason is that they do not seriously understand the bait-to-water ratio. The packaging states that the bait-water ratio is 1:0.8, which means that after taking one portion of bait, you need to add 0.8 portions of water to mix it. The units here are all volume units, not weight units. The best way is to use a plastic measuring cup: for every cup of bait, take 0.8 parts of water. If you don't have a measuring cup, you can use a disposable plastic cup instead. Beginners in fishing must learn to use a measuring cup and don’t be afraid of the trouble. Because only in this way can you prepare a good bait that is neither dry nor thin.

In addition, when preparing the bait, in addition to paying attention to the accurate amount of water, you must also pay attention to the fact that it is best to add enough water at one time, and try to avoid adding water gradually. Because some ingredients in the bait absorb water quickly and some absorb water slowly, if you don't add enough at one time, the various ingredients will absorb water unevenly, which will affect the use of the bait and easily form lumps.

The definition of rubbing the bait is that you must first rub the prepared bait into a ball with your hands, then bury the hook in the bait ball and rub it with the thumb, index finger and middle finger to seal the hook inside the bait ball without any gap on the surface of the bait ball. Rubbing bait is an essential skill in competitive fishing. A skilled angler can make a variety of bait balls such as spherical, teardrop-shaped, triangular, cylindrical, etc., and according to needs, the bait balls can be as big as marbles or as small as rice grains.

There are also some rules for when to use rubbing bait. When should we use rubbing bait?

Fishing in deep water If the water is deep, the bait will be completely atomized before it reaches the bottom of the water. Sometimes there will be only an empty hook left after the bait reaches the bottom. In this case, you should use a rubbing bait. The rubbing bait should be larger and stickier when it is hooked, so you can put it directly on the bottom of the water.
