Stomach cramps in the middle of the night

Stomachache is a disease that seems to be minor, but it can be fatal when it hurts. Many people have experienced stomachache in the middle of the night. When this happens, you must relieve it in time, otherwise the stomachache will become serious and cause great damage to the stomach and intestines. What causes stomach cramps in the middle of the night? There are many reasons for stomach cramps in the middle of the night, the most common one is improper diet, and eating without restraint and indiscriminately during the day will lead to such a situation.

Sudden abdominal cramps that come and go and that you can't defecate are usually caused by acute gastroenteritis. The cause is usually eating spicy, stimulating, or cold food at noon, which irritates the small intestine during digestion and causes pain.

This pain is particularly severe, and you can't straighten your back when it hurts. However, the pain is not continuous, but comes in waves, which means that the small intestine is struggling to digest the food. If this happens suddenly at home, pay attention to the following matters.

1. Don’t take medicine indiscriminately. Don't take all the gastrointestinal medicines in your medicine cabinet just because you have a stomachache. This is unscientific and very dangerous. Because some medicines for gastrointestinal problems are anti-diarrhea, some are anti-inflammatory, and some are laxatives...it can be very dangerous if you take them indiscriminately.

2. You should not take antidiarrheal drugs for this type of acute gastroenteritis, because some ingredients in antidiarrheal drugs absorb water in the small intestine, which will make the enteritis more serious. Generally, you need to take gas-relieving and antibacterial drugs.

3. If you don’t have enough medicine at home, you can use a hot water bag or bottle and place it near your belly button. Cover your belly through your underwear, otherwise your skin will easily be burned. Heating the small intestine can enhance the activity of digestive enzymes in the small intestine, which is beneficial for excreting spicy, cold and difficult-to-digest foods.

4. Drink more boiled water and hot porridge to replenish water to prevent dehydration. The stomach and intestines also need a lot of water for digestion.

5. It would be even better if you have cupping at home. Putting a few cups next to your belly button is very effective.
