You can try to use pliers to make the zipper seam smaller in the direction of the red arrow in the picture below. You can adjust it several times to make it smaller.

If it still doesn't work, you can change the zipper head. Take off the zipper head of the old clothes in the picture below.

As shown in the picture below, remove the top of the zipper with needle-nosed pliers, and the zipper head will be removed.

Use the same method to remove the top zipper on the other piece of clothing and remove the broken zipper head.

Install the good zipper head, as shown in the picture below, the clothes can be zipped up, and then sew a zipper at the top with thread so that the zipper cannot be pulled out.

The zipper of clothes cracks because there is resistance in the zipper. Apply lubricating oil or candle on the zipper teeth.

Slowly pull the zipper back and forth. If there is a little resistance, stop and apply some more lubricant, then continue pulling until it can be pulled from one end to the other.

Pull it several times until it is very smooth and can be pulled from one end to the other.

Pull the zipper slowly, don't pull it violently. If the zipper head is caught in the clothes, you can slowly pull it down while pulling the clothes outwards.

How to fix a torn zipper?

2. Repair steps

1) Remove the chain teeth at the end (on the same side as the zipper head), pry them apart with force and clamp them up.

2) Remove the zipper head and you can see that it has been severely deformed.

3) If the zipper pull is metal, use pliers to clamp it back to its original width.

Tip: If the original zipper head is not seriously damaged, you don’t have to remove it. You can just clamp it on the zipper with pliers.

If the zipper pull is plastic, there is no other choice but to replace it with one of the same size.

4) Install the repaired zipper pull or the new zipper pull back onto the zipper.

5) Use pliers to replace the end chain tooth that was removed in step 1 and clamp it in place.
