Can mild gastric bleeding heal itself?

Can mild gastric bleeding heal itself?

Our stomach and intestines are responsible for digesting and absorbing nutrients from food. However, irregular diet, overeating, and long-term consumption of junk food can easily lead to gastrointestinal diseases. Gastric ulcer and gastric bleeding are common stomach diseases. These diseases can cause stomach bleeding. Mild gastric bleeding can heal itself through cell repair ability, but severe and persistent gastric bleeding requires treatment.

There are many causes of gastric bleeding, but bleeding caused by gastric and duodenal ulcers and rupture of esophageal and gastric varicose veins is the most common.

1. Stomach and duodenal diseases: gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, acute gastric mucosal erosion, stress ulcer, chronic gastritis, gastric cancer, gastric polyps, gastric leiomyosarcoma, gastric leiomyoma, gastric mucosal prolapse, postoperative anastomotic ulcer, intussusception, gastric granulomatous lesions, and duodenal diverticulum.

2. Esophageal diseases: esophageal varices, esophageal portal mucosal tear syndrome, hiatal hernia, esophagitis, esophageal ulcer, esophageal cancer, esophageal benign tumor, and esophageal diverticulum.

3. Vascular diseases: aortic aneurysm, splenic artery aneurysm, small aneurysms in the gastric wall, hemangioma, gastric submucosal arteriovenous malformation, and hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.

4. Hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases: cirrhosis with portal hypertension, liver cancer with portal hypertension, portal vein thrombosis, portal vein obstruction syndrome, biliary bleeding, ampullary cancer, pancreatic cancer invading the duodenum, and acute pancreatitis.

5. Systemic diseases and others: hemorrhagic fever, leptospirosis, cor pulmonale, emphysema with infection, coagulation disorder, leukemia, purpura, hemophilia, disseminated intravascular coagulation, lymphoma, uremia, amyloidosis, and sarcoidosis.

As can be seen from the above, there are many diseases that can cause gastric bleeding. But don't be afraid, defeating stomach bleeding starts with understanding its causes. I hope the above helps you understand gastric bleeding.

What should you do if you find that someone near you or yourself is suffering from gastric bleeding? Below, the editor will give you some tips.

1. Conventional treatment

The patient should lie in a supine position, and if he is restless, 10 mg of diazepam can be injected intramuscularly;

Patients with vomiting blood should fast, while those with simple black stools can take a liquid diet;

Those with severe conditions should receive oxygen;

Place a gastric tube to aspirate the blood in the stomach, understand the bleeding situation, and infuse drugs;

Strengthen care to prevent vomitus from being inhaled into the respiratory tract and causing pneumonia or suffocation.

2. General treatment methods

The diagnosis of acute gastric bleeding is mainly based on acute massive hematemesis and black stools. Generally, the bleeding does not exceed 500 ml, and most of the cases are vomiting blood, but some cases are bloody stool. The patient feels nauseous before vomiting blood, feels the urge to defecate before having bloody stools, and has black eyes, panic attacks, and even fainting after defecation. The patient looks pale, is thirsty, has a rapid and weak pulse, and has low blood pressure. Patients with ulcer disease often experience regular upper abdominal pain, which can be relieved by alkaline drugs. X-ray barium meal examination is of great significance in the diagnosis of ulcer disease. In addition to the possibility of feeling a mass, gastric cancer patients also have obvious symptoms such as loss of appetite, upper abdominal discomfort, indigestion, and weight loss, and the disease progresses rapidly. X-ray barium meal examination and gastroscopy can help to confirm the diagnosis. Patients with acute ulcers caused by drugs or stress ulcers caused by trauma usually have a history of long-term oral administration of aspirin, cortisone and other drugs, or have recently undergone major surgery or suffered severe burns.

Most patients with acute gastric bleeding can be treated with non-surgical methods. Specific measures include blood transfusion, infusion, and the use of various hemostatic drugs through different routes. Surgery may be considered for bleeding caused by gastric cancer and gastric bleeding that cannot be controlled by the above treatment measures.

In short, once you find symptoms of gastric bleeding, you must go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment immediately.
