What medicine to use to kill ticks

Ticks are commonly known as grass crawlers. If bitten by a tick, you may suffer from many diseases, so we must pay attention to protecting ourselves. When going outdoors, especially in forests and wild areas, it is best to wear long sleeves and long pants, and protect the cuffs, trouser legs and collar. The indoor air should also be ventilated every day to keep it fresh and dry. If you have pets or livestock at home, be sure to disinfect them regularly to prevent ticks from breeding.

1. Ticks

Ticks, also known as mites, ticks, and grass crawlers, are extremely small arthropod parasites of the Arachnida class Acari subclass Ixodida superfamily Ixodida, only about the size of a matchstick head. When it is not sucking blood, it is the size of a grain of rice. After sucking full of blood, it is the size of a fingernail. Hosts include mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, most of which feed on blood, and their bites can cause inflammation at the site of the sting. Ticks are often selective in the parts of their hosts where they parasitize, generally in areas where the skin is thinner and not easily scratched.

2. The harm of ticks

It is as big as a fingernail. Once it falls on a person, it will drill into the skin and die if it reaches the brain. After a tick bites a person, it emits a numbing sensation, buries its head in the skin and sucks blood, and at the same time secretes a substance that can be harmful to the human body. If it penetrates into the human body, it must be removed immediately. If it is not removed in time: in mild cases, the patient will suffer from unbearable itching in rainy weather a few years later. In severe cases, the patient may suffer from persistent high fever, deep coma, convulsions, and forest encephalitis.

3. What medicine to use to kill ticks

There are two main ways to eliminate ticks on livestock. One is to capture them directly, and the other is to use chemical drugs to kill ticks. When ticks are found, they should be removed and then killed centrally. When pulling out the tick, the tick body must be perpendicular to the skin and then pulled upwards to avoid the tick's false head breaking off in the skin and causing inflammation. However, this method can only be used under the premise of a small number of livestock and sufficient manpower.

Chemical drugs are commonly used to eliminate ticks, such as pyrethroid insecticides, organophosphorus insecticides, and amidine insecticides. You can choose spraying, medicated bath and other methods according to the season and application object. However, it should be noted that long-term use of these agents will cause ticks to develop drug resistance, so the agents should be used in combination or in rotation.

In recent years, genetic control and biological control have been used to kill ticks. The former is to use radiation or chemical sterilizers to make male ticks lose their reproductive ability, causing the tick population to continue to decline; the latter is to use the natural enemies of ticks to kill ticks. It has now been discovered that some parasitic wasps of the family Leptomyces in the order Hymenoptera can lay eggs in the bodies of some nymphal ticks, and the eggs will escape from the nymphs only after they become adults. The nymphs will die shortly after parasitism. There are also insects from the family Assassinidae that can cause tick death.
