Symptoms of kidney stones

Kidney stones are a very common disease in daily life. It not only causes great harm to the patient's physical health, but also seriously affects their normal life and work. Therefore, it is particularly important to understand its symptoms and find scientific and effective treatment methods. The early symptoms of kidney stones generally include renal colic, macroscopic hematuria, fever and chills. If related symptoms are found, medical treatment should be sought in time.

1. What are the early symptoms of kidney stones?

1. Renal colic. When the stone is at the junction of the renal pelvis and ureter, it will cause a knife-like pain, causing the patient great suffering. The pain may radiate from the side of the abdomen to the bladder area. Sometimes it is accompanied by symptoms such as nausea and vomiting.

2. Gross hematuria. Visible hematuria may occur during urination because the stones damage the mucous membrane, leading to hematuria.

3. Fever and chills. When kidney stones accumulate in large quantities, it can lead to acute pyelonephritis, which can cause systemic symptoms such as fever and chills.

2. How to treat kidney stones?

1. Diet therapy. Adjust your diet according to the type of stones. For calcium oxalate stones, avoid foods with high oxalic acid content, such as spinach, potatoes, tea, etc. For idiopathic hypercalcemic urinary stones, calcium intake should be limited and excessive calcium supplementation should be avoided in normal times.

2. Drug treatment. Drug treatment only has a diuretic effect. It can help expel smaller stones from the body, but it has no effect on larger stones.

3. Extracorporeal lithotripsy. A relatively commonly used treatment method, it uses instruments to locate and crush stones in the body, and it is very effective. However, it should be noted that extracorporeal lithotripsy can only locate one stone at a time. It is less effective for multiple and small stones in the body, and performing it too many times will cause certain damage to the body.

4. Drink plenty of water for treatment. Some smaller stones can be flushed out by excreting large amounts of urine, so drinking plenty of water can replenish water and ensure there is enough urine to excrete them out of the body. Increased urine production can also help prevent infection.

Kidney stones can be large or small. Some smaller stones will not have any special effects or harm to the body, while some larger stones are prone to complications and may endanger the patient's life. Therefore, when kidney stones occur, you should not take it lightly. You should take the correct treatment method to treat it, and do not treat it blindly to avoid treatment misunderstandings. This will prevent kidney stones from increasing in number and size, leading to irreversible consequences.
