Methods of Pap smear examination for cervical cancer

Pap smear refers to cervical exfoliated cell smear, which means taking a small amount of cell sample from the cervix, placing it on a glass slide, and then studying it under a microscope to see if it is abnormal. Bethesda, the home of the National Cancer Institute of the United States, held a meeting to customize the cervical and guided cytopathology diagnostic reporting method, which includes the standard of smear satisfaction and the definition of diagnostic names. Learn about the specific method of Pap smear detection for cervical cancer.

The Pap smear test is to take a small amount of cell samples from the cervix, put them on a glass slide, and then study them under a microscope to see if they are abnormal. Through a simple cervical smear, doctors can detect tiny and very early changes in cervical cells, which allows fatal cancer to be sniped before it actually occurs. Therefore, medical experts believe that cervical cancer is a completely preventable disease. This is a cervical cancer screening method commonly used in the world.
Since its introduction more than 60 years ago, the Pap smear has reduced the incidence of cervical cancer by 70% to 90% worldwide. The Pap smear is relatively cheap, requires almost no equipment, and can be used by grassroots organizations. It generally only costs 20-30 yuan, so it is still widely used. Doctors recommend that those who have a Pap smear report of IIb or above should have a TCT examination at least one month apart to avoid missed diagnosis.
