Causes of swollen face

The main reason is the lack of high-quality protein, because human cells are composed of 70% water, 28% protein, 2% fat, and 1% sugar. Patients with kidney disease may also experience lower limb edema. However, it usually starts with swelling of the eyelids or face and then spreads to the whole body. When patients wake up in the morning, they often find that their face is swollen and their upper eyelids are swollen like "silkworms". Elderly people who suffer from long-term malnutrition and anemia may also experience edema in the lower limbs and throughout the body due to the formation of hypoproteinemia.

The elderly often suffer from prostate hypertrophy, and some suffer from bladder tumors. Urinary retention can also cause renal insufficiency and eventually lead to lower limb edema.
