The emergence of contact lenses has brought convenience to many people. In fact, many people may not know that contact lenses also have a front and back side. If worn correctly, they are very comfortable. However, if worn upside down, the lenses will slip and the vision will be blurred. Therefore, when wearing contact lenses, we must distinguish the front and back sides. How do you distinguish the front and back of contact lenses? In fact, the methods to distinguish the front and back of ordinary contact lenses are almost the same, there are four methods: observation method, pushing method, squeezing method and wearing method. Next, let’s take a look at these commonly used methods of distinction. 1. Pushing method: Place the lens in a lens box with care solution, and push it with a stick. When the lens fits the care box very well and cannot be pushed at all, it is the front side of the contact lens. If it is very easy to push and the lens overlaps with one push, it is most likely the back side of the lens. 2. Observation method: Place a contact lens on your finger and observe the edge of the lens. If the edge is not smooth and is in the shape of a disc that is turned outward, it is the back of the lens; if the edge of the lens has a large curvature and is in the shape of a bowl, it is the front. 3. Squeezing method: Hold a Bausch & Lomb contact lens to be worn between the index finger and thumb, and press it lightly. The side of the lens that flips over is the front side of the contact lens; the side that is not elastic and has not flipped over is the back side of the lens. 4. How to wear the lenses: After putting them on, if you feel a strong foreign body sensation, or if things you see are sometimes clear and sometimes blurry, it is possible that the lenses are worn upside down. In this case, just take off the lenses and put them on again. Generally, the above four methods can be used to distinguish the front and back of ordinary contact lenses, and Bausch and Lomb contact lenses are no exception. However, there are some special brands of lenses that have letters printed on the front and back, which makes it easier to distinguish, but that’s another matter. How to clean contact lenses 1. Before cleaning and disinfecting contact lenses, be sure to wash your hands with soap and running water, and be careful not to leave long nails to prevent bacteria on your hands from contaminating the lenses and scratching the lenses from nails. 2. Clean the lens before disinfection. The correct method is: place the inner arc of the lens on the palm of your hand, drop a few drops of cleaning solution or care solution on the lens, and gently rub it from the center to the periphery with the index finger for at least 20 seconds (about 90% of bacteria can be removed). 3. Rinse the cleaned lenses with sterile saline and place them in a lens box to soak and disinfect for more than 4-6 hours. Then rinse with sterile saline to remove residual liquid before wearing. If not worn, the lenses should be kept immersed in preservation solution. |
