How to wash white clothes stained with red wine

How to wash white clothes stained with red wine

Beautiful white items are the first choice for many women when going out or partying in summer. However, once white clothes are accidentally stained with red wine, cleaning them is really a headache. If red wine stains appear on your clothes, it is best to wash them immediately, as this will produce the best results. If the stains are old, you can first clean them with detergent, and then rub them with 10% alcohol solution to remove the wine stains.

1. Use milk to wash away wine stains

When red wine splashes onto white clothes, first soak them in milk or wipe them with boiled milk, especially for white cotton and linen clothes. Finally, use detergent to wash them normally.

2. Use salt to wash away wine stains

To remove red wine stains, first spray water, then sprinkle a little salt, and press lightly with your hands. Allow the salt to absorb the wine stains, shake off the salt, and then wash as usual.

3. Use toothpaste to remove wine stains

Toothpaste is suitable for cleaning light-colored clothes, especially white clothes. First, apply toothpaste to the red wine area, wait for a few minutes, and then rinse with clean water. If the red wine stain is still visible, add some dishwashing liquid or laundry detergent and wash with warm water.

4. Remove wine stains with drops of vinegar and ammonia

If you're running out of time, add a few drops of vinegar and ammonia to white clothing and gently pat the stain.

5. Use acetic acid and alcohol to remove wine stains

Use a 1:1 ratio of acetic acid and alcohol, add eight times the amount of water solution, and then use a squeezed wet towel to pat the area stained with wine.

6. Use egg yolk + glycerin to wash away wine stains

To wash off brightly colored red wine stains, apply a mixture of 1 egg yolk and 50 grams of glycerin on the wine stains. After half a day (about 3 hours), wash it off with warm water at 25-30 degrees Celsius.

7. Use Borax and warm water to remove wine stains

Use 2% borax in warm water, wet the cloth, and slowly pat the stain to remove red wine stains.

8. Use acetic acid to remove wine stains

However, for stains that have been there for some time, you can wipe them off with acetic acid water. If the pigment does not fade, you need to use bleach.

9. Soak with baking soda and water to remove wine stains

Soak the red wine stained part of the white clothes in hot water at about 60℃, take it out after a while, sprinkle a small amount of alkali powder and an equal amount of laundry detergent on it, and rub it with your hands. Then, rinse with clean water and wash again with detergent.

You can also soak the stained area with shampoo, then dilute white vinegar with water, dip a brush in the solution and gently scrub it, and the red wine stains can be removed.

10. Use disinfectant or bleach to remove wine stains

Most households have disinfectant products similar to 84 disinfectant, which contain strong oxidizing ingredients that can oxidize pigments and achieve a bleaching effect. The bleaching effect of disinfectant is not very strong and is more suitable for washing clothes. If you don’t have disinfectant, you can buy special clothing bleach.
