Is non-woven fabric toxic?

Non-woven fabrics are environmentally friendly materials that are often used in modern society because they have many advantages, such as being non-flammable, lightweight, and smooth to the touch. In addition to being used to make clothing fabrics, non-woven fabrics can also be used to make curtains. Therefore, non-woven fabrics have flooded people's lives, but do non-woven fabrics contain toxins and will they cause harm to the human body?

It is made of non-woven fabric, and its biggest features are that it is moisture-proof, breathable, flexible, non-flammable, easy to decompose, non-toxic and non-irritating. The smell of non-woven environmentally friendly bags is mainly reflected in two aspects: one is the choice of fabric; the other is the selection of printing ink and slurry.

Fabric selection: Non-woven fabrics are divided into new materials and recycled materials. New materials are made from 100% new non-woven fabric particles. The main component is polypropylene, and there is no formaldehyde in it. Recycled materials are made by mixing some recycled materials into some new materials, and these recycled materials may contain some toxic components for some reasons. In order to save factory costs, some unscrupulous eco-friendly bag manufacturers will choose to use recycled materials to make non-woven eco-friendly bags, which has a great impact on customers.

Printing inks and pastes are places where some industrial ingredients are easily added. Inks are divided into water-based inks and oil-based inks. Generally speaking, water-based inks are more environmentally friendly. The greater the pungent smell of the ink, the more formaldehyde content will be relatively higher, but generally speaking, the content here will be controlled within a certain range, and formaldehyde is also a volatile substance. Over time, its impact on non-woven bags will become smaller and smaller. There are also differences in the slurries used in screen printing. Some slurries have a strong pungent smell, while some slurries are environmentally friendly slurries with no pungent smell and very little impact on the human body. Therefore, most eco-friendly bag manufacturers will choose the latter to print non-woven eco-friendly bags.

Whether the non-woven eco-friendly bags contain toxic ingredients (formaldehyde) or have irritating odors depends mainly on the choice of materials and printing paste by the eco-friendly bag manufacturer.
