Why does my urine stink?

Why does my urine stink?

Under normal circumstances, the urine we just excrete is light yellow, but does not have a strong smell. Unless the urine is left for a period of time, it will slowly develop a fishy smell. This is because the urea in the urine is decomposed over time and a chemical reaction occurs. But what is the reason if someone's urine has a bad smell from the beginning?

Freshly discharged urine has a very obvious odor, which may indicate a urinary tract infection or urinary retention. In addition, eating certain foods such as onions and garlic can also make the urine have a special odor. The following diseases can also cause urine odor: Urethritis caused by non-sexual behavior, such as traumatic mental stimulation, systemic infection complications, metabolic abnormalities, allergies, etc. Urethritis caused by sexual intercourse or similar sexual activities. Gonococcal urethritis is urethritis caused by infection with gonorrhea. Non-gonococcal urethritis is a urethritis caused by microorganisms other than gonococci, including chlamydia, mycoplasma, etc. If urethritis is not treated in time, it can easily cause prostatitis, orchitis, epididymitis, seminal vesiculitis, etc.

Urine may also have an ammonia smell. The volatile acid in normal urine may produce an ammonia smell due to the decomposition of urea by bacteria after being left. If the urine has an ammonia smell as soon as it is discharged, it often indicates chronic cystitis and chronic urinary retention. The apple scent is often seen in diabetic acidosis or hunger, and this kind of urine can often attract ants to gather. A putrid, fishy smell is common in cystitis and suppurative pyelitis. Fecal odor Patients with cystocolonic paralysis often have a fecal odor in their urine. That burning sulfur smell is probably from eating too much asparagus. The sulfur-containing amino acids in asparagus can give your urine this smell. As the asparagus is digested, this smell will gradually disappear. If the sulfur smell persists for more than two days, it is necessary to go to the hospital for a urine test.

What causes urine odor?

Urine is prone to smelly in summer due to bacteria and other factors. It is very hot in summer and you will sweat profusely as soon as you do the slightest activity. To cope with the large amount of water lost from the sweat glands, the kidneys must concentrate the urine to conserve water, so the urine becomes more concentrated and the amount of urine becomes less. In addition, hot and humid skin also makes it easy for bacteria to grow on the skin, which can easily cause urinary tract diseases.

How to prevent urine odor?

Drink plenty of water, maintaining more than 3000cc of water per day; empty the bladder at least once every 3 to 4 hours; avoid irritating foods, drinking alcohol or coffee; consume more fruits containing vitamin C, such as orange, lemon, and plum juice to keep urine acidic; take a shower.

You must urinate before and after sexual intercourse; do not hold urine, especially pregnant women; take medication as directed by your doctor and do not stop taking medication without permission after symptoms are relieved; patients with diabetes, urinary stones, enlarged thyroid and other diseases that are prone to urinary tract infections should be careful and receive appropriate treatment.

Participate in some physical exercise every day, such as Tai Chi, jogging, walking, etc., to increase your body's immunity. If you suffer from diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease, etc., you should actively seek treatment; patients with smelly urine should eat a light diet. You should eat more fresh fruits and vegetables on a daily basis.
