What's going on with vomiting blood

Vomiting blood from the mouth is a not uncommon symptom. Heat accumulation in the stomach, liver fire attacking the stomach, and qi failing to control blood can all cause people to cough up blood. 1. Etiology and pathogenesis

Vomiting blood mainly comes from gastric lesions. It can be caused by external evil invading the stomach, injury to the stomach network, or disease of other organs affecting the stomach.

(1) Heat accumulation in the stomach: A person who is fond of spicy food and has an irregular diet may accumulate heat in the stomach. (3) Qi cannot control blood: due to overwork or long-term illness, the spleen is weak and cannot control blood, which causes blood to overflow and go up the meridians, resulting in vomiting of blood.

2. Treatment based on syndrome differentiation

When making clinical diagnosis, one should especially carefully examine the symptoms, distinguish between deficiency and excess, and combine the symptoms and urgency of the disease. Then establish treatment principles and carry out treatment.

(1) Heat accumulation in the stomach:

Symptoms: bright red blood or blood mixed with food residues, abdominal distension, even pain, bad breath, constipation or black stool, red tongue, yellow and greasy tongue coating, and slippery and rapid pulse.

Treatment method: Clear the stomach and reduce fire, cool the blood and stop bleeding.

Prescription: Xiexin Decoction combined with Shihuisan with modifications.

(2) Liver fire attacks the stomach:

Symptoms: Vomiting bright red or dark purple blood, violent vomiting, bitter taste in the mouth and pain in the ribs, irritability, restlessness, red tongue, and rapid and stringy pulse.

Treatment method: Calm the liver, clear away heat, cool blood and stop bleeding.

Prescription: Longdan Xieganchang plus or minus.

(3) Spleen failure:

Symptoms: Vomiting blood of dark and pale color and recurring, weight loss and fatigue, palpitations and shortness of breath, abdominal distension and loose stools, pale tongue with little coating, cold limbs and thin pulse.

Treatment method: Nourish Qi and blood, astringe and stop bleeding.

Prescription: Yellow Earth Soup.

3. Health care guidance

(1) Pay attention to your daily life and avoid overwork.

(2) Eat in moderation and avoid overeating or being too hungry or too full. Avoid spicy food and excessive drinking.

(3) Strengthen physical exercise to improve physical fitness and prevent external pathogens from invading the human body, especially during the alternating seasons of cold and heat to prevent colds.
