The absolute value of lymphocytes increased

The absolute value of lymphocytes increased

Lymphocytes have great physiological significance for the human body. They can recycle proteins, transport nutrients, regulate plasma, etc., and they also have good defensive capabilities. The absolute value of lymphocytes is between 1.1-3.2×10^9. If it is found to be increased during examination, it is very likely that the patient has a certain disease, such as whooping cough, infectious mononucleosis, etc. It may also be caused by a viral infection, so the cause must be determined before treatment.

1. Normal value of lymphocytes

Normal reference range (applicable to both men and women): Lymph% 20-40%, Lymph# 1.1-3.2×10^9

Increased: whooping cough, infectious mononucleosis, viral infection, acute infectious lymphocytosis, lymphocytic leukemia;

Reduced: Immunodeficiency, radiation sickness.

2. Physiological significance of lymphocytes

1. Recycling protein

Protein molecules in the interstitial fluid cannot enter the blood through the capillary walls, but can more easily pass through the capillary walls of lymphatic vessels to form components of lymph. About 75 to 200 grams of protein are carried back to the blood by the lymph every day, keeping the protein concentration in the interstitial fluid at a low level.

2. Transport nutrients

Transports fats and other nutrients. 80% to 90% of the fat absorbed by the intestine is absorbed by the capillary lymphatic vessels of the small intestinal villi.

3. Regulate plasma

Regulates fluid balance in plasma and interstitial fluid. About 2 to 4 liters of lymph are produced every day and return to the plasma, which is roughly equivalent to the total body plasma volume.

4. Defensive effect

Lymphatic flow can also clear out red blood cells that enter tissues due to injury and bleeding and viruses that invade the body, playing a defensive role for the animal body.

3. Symptoms of swollen lymph nodes

The phenomenon of lymph nodes increasing in size due to internal cell proliferation or tumor cell infiltration. Common clinical signs. It can be found by touching the submandibular, neck, supraclavicular fossa, axilla and groin areas, but enlarged lymph nodes in the body such as the hilum of the lung, mediastinum, retroperitoneum and mesentery can only be found by X-ray, CT and B-ultrasound. There are three common situations in which lymph nodes are swollen:

1. Benign

① Benign swelling. Includes swelling caused by various infections, connective tissue diseases and allergic reactions. The clinical course is usually benign and can be fully recovered within a certain period of time as the cause is eliminated.

2. Malignant

② Malignant swelling. It includes malignant tumors originating in the lymph nodes, such as lymphoma, lymphocytic leukemia and malignant histiocytosis, as well as lymph node metastasis of other malignant tumors, such as lung cancer, gastric cancer and breast cancer. The clinical course is malignant, with persistent and progressive enlargement of lymph nodes. If not treated actively, the disease will often progressively worsen and lead to death.

3. Between

③Swelling between benign and malignant. Such as angioprimitive immunocytic lymphadenopathy and angiofollicular lymphadenopathy. It often starts out benign but can become malignant and fatal. Therefore, after confirming that the lymph nodes are swollen, the key is to determine their cause and nature. Local swelling accompanied by obvious pain often indicates infection; progressive painless swelling often indicates malignant tumor disease. Bone marrow aspiration and especially lymph node biopsy can help confirm the diagnosis. The treatment of swollen lymph nodes depends on the cause. For example, streptomycin and remifentanil can be used for lymph node tuberculosis. If it is malignant lymphoma, combined chemotherapy should be the main treatment. If it is late-stage cancer metastasis, the prognosis is extremely poor.
