Why does melanin deposit?

Why does melanin deposit?

Melanin deposition is an important cause of pigmentation and is closely related to endocrine disorders. Once pigmentation is formed, it is very difficult to resolve, especially when it appears on the face, it will have a great impact on women's appearance. Therefore, the cause of melanin deposition has become a matter of concern to many people. So, why does melanin deposit? Let’s take a look at the reasons below.

UV exposure

Ultraviolet radiation in sunlight is an important cause of pigmentation, which is why sun protection is needed in summer. When the skin is exposed to too much sunlight, the epidermis produces more melanin particles, which can absorb ultraviolet rays and protect the body from harm. This is why our skin becomes darker after sun exposure. Moreover, exposure to ultraviolet rays can cause chloasma, which darkens the color of common freckles.

Endocrine causes

Endocrine disorders are also an important cause of pigmentation in women. Changes in sex hormone levels during menstruation and pregnancy can affect the production of melanin. In addition, endocrine instability usually causes emotional instability, which can also indirectly cause the formation of pigmentation spots (in traditional Chinese medicine, the formation of melasma is mainly attributed to liver congestion, which is more complicated).

Lifestyle issues

Bad living habits such as stress, picky eating, and lack of sleep can also increase melanin. Therefore, people with unstable sleep schedules have poor skin metabolism rates, which will affect the production of melanin deposition.

Diet therapy

The following medicated diets are used clinically, and the effects are often satisfactory.

1. Freckle removal powder: 250 grams of winter melon seeds, 25 grams of lotus seed powder, 15 grams of angelica powder. Grind the winter melon seeds, lotus seed powder and angelica powder into fine powder, take with boiled water after meals every day; take 15 grams orally, and for external use, grind equal amounts of dried peach blossoms and dried winter melon seeds (shelled) into fine powder, add appropriate amount of honey and mix well. Apply to the affected area before going to bed and wash off in the morning. It has the effect of removing freckles, cleansing the skin and enhancing the complexion.

2. Spot-eliminating soup: 10 grams of loofah, 10 grams of white poria, 10 grams of silkworm, 10 grams of white chrysanthemum, 20 grams of pearl, 3 roses, 10 red dates. Add water to the above medicines and boil them to extract the juice. Add water again to boil them to extract the juice. Mix the two juices and take 1 dose daily, divided into two doses, for 30 consecutive days.

3. Take 200 grams of yam, peel and cut into pieces, stir-fry 100 grams of Job's tears, 20 grams of jujube, add 1 liter of water, simmer until it becomes porridge, add appropriate amount of rock sugar, take appropriate amount every morning. It is suitable for people with spleen dysfunction, poor appetite, abdominal distension, gray-brown spots, and white greasy tongue coating.

4. Take an old turtle, kill and clean it, prepare 30 grams each of Polygonum multiflorum, Lycium barbarum and Asparagus cochinchinensis, put them into a casserole and simmer for 3 hours. Take it when it is warm. It is suitable for people with kidney yin deficiency, bone steaming and night sweats, tired waist and weak legs, fever in the five hearts, and dark brown spots.

5. Seven White Cakes: 50 grams each of white lentils, white yam, white lotus seeds, and white poria, 15 grams of white chrysanthemum, 100 grams each of white flour and white sugar. After it has fermented, add white sugar, put it in a steamer, and steam it in boiling water for 30 minutes. After taking it out of the steamer, cut it into pieces. Regular consumption is effective for chloasma caused by spleen deficiency and damp-heat.

6. Massage: Facial massage has a good effect on melanin deposition and chloasma. Various massage techniques are mainly implemented along the direction of the orbicularis oculi, frontalis, orbicularis oculi and major facial muscle groups. The techniques mainly include smearing, kneading, rubbing, tapping, rolling and patting. At the same time, they are combined with tapping and kneading of Taiyang, Yangbai, Zanzhu, Jiache, Yingxiang, Dilun and Xiaguan acupoints to achieve the effect of activating blood circulation, unblocking meridians, beautifying the complexion and removing spots.
