The most serious symptoms of alcohol poisoning

Wine is a very important drink in life. Drinking a small amount of wine can please the body and mind, and it is also an indispensable part of many social interactions. But if we drink too much, it will cause great harm to our health. In severe cases, it may cause alcohol poisoning or even death. There are many forms of alcohol poisoning, such as drunken talk, hallucinations, dizziness, unsteady gait, memory loss, etc. We should control our drinking amount to avoid alcohol poisoning.

1. The most serious symptoms of alcohol poisoning

Alcohol poisoning can be divided into two types: acute and chronic. Acute alcohol poisoning is caused by a sudden large amount of drinking. Mild symptoms include mental abnormalities, excessive talking, irritability, rapid heart rate, dizziness, headache, blurred vision and double vision, and may also include nausea and vomiting. Severe acute alcohol poisoning can cause deep coma, low blood pressure, slow breathing, and rapid heart rate, which can cause great harm to the patient in a short period of time and may even directly or indirectly lead to death. Chronic alcohol poisoning causes cumulative harm to patients, such as alcohol dependence, mental disorders, alcoholic cirrhosis, and the induction of certain cancers (oral cancer, tongue cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer), etc.

2. Alcohol Intoxication Stage

1. Excitement stage: The main symptoms at this time are dizziness, fatigue, loss of self-control, euphoria, increased speech, sometimes rudeness, flushed or pale face, alcohol smell on the breath, and emotionality.

2. Ataxia stage: At this time, the patient has symptoms such as uncoordinated movements, clumsy movements, staggering gait, incoherent speech, nystagmus, agitation, and diplopia.

3. Coma stage: The patient will be drowsy, pale, have low body temperature, cold and clammy skin, and slightly cyanotic lips.

3. Clinical manifestations of acute alcohol intoxication

1. Simple drunkenness

Also known as ordinary drunkenness, it refers to acute poisoning caused by drinking a large amount of alcohol at one time. The severity of intoxication is related to the patient's drinking speed, amount of drinking, blood alcohol concentration and individual tolerance. Clinically, it is usually divided into the excitement phase, the ataxia phase and the lethargy phase. Patients with mild symptoms may develop abnormal mental states after drinking, such as talking too much, irritability, flushed or pale face, bloodshot eyes, accelerated heart rate, dizziness, headache, etc. As the disease progresses, patients experience unsteady gait, clumsy movements, slurred and incoherent speech, blurred vision and double vision, and may experience nausea and vomiting. Patients with severe poisoning are in a coma, have pale faces, bluish lips, cold and clammy skin, decreased body temperature, shallow breathing, and dilated pupils. In severe cases, the patient falls into a deep coma, with low blood pressure, slow breathing, and rapid heart rate, until death from exhaustion.

2. Complex intoxication

It refers to the intense psychomotor excitement and severe confusion that suddenly occurs in patients during or after drinking large amounts of alcohol. At this time, the patient's consciousness disorder is more serious, the psychomotor excitement is more intense and lasts longer. Therefore, violent acts such as retaliatory injuries, murder and property destruction, and sexual crimes are likely to occur.
