Auricular neuralgia

Auricular neuralgia

Auricular neuralgia is a type of neuralgia and a disease that causes both physical and psychological torture to the patient. In order to avoid worsening of the disease and to recover as soon as possible, patients must take certain measures to treat the disease in time. There are many ways to treat auricular neuralgia. Here we will introduce three types of treatments: medication, family treatment, and dietary health care!

1. Medication treatment

There are many treatments for neuralgia, which can be roughly divided into two types: non-invasive and invasive. Non-invasive treatments include medication, traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, physical therapy, etc. Suitable for patients with short illness course and mild pain. It can also be used as a supplementary treatment to invasive treatments. Invasive treatments include surgery, injections, and radiofrequency thermocoagulation.

Acupuncture therapy is very effective in treating neuralgia. If the pain is severe, 5 to 10 acupuncture treatments may be effective.

2. Family treatment measures

Massage with an ice pack: Massage with an ice pack can interrupt the transmission of signals along the nerve pathway and replace them with temperature signals, which can relieve pain.

Acupressure massage: Pressing the Hegu point on the large intestine meridian located between the webs of the thumb and index finger can relieve facial pain. Use the thumb or index finger of your right hand to press the point on your left hand for 1 minute, and then press your right hand. Do not use this point if you are pregnant.

To relieve chest and upper abdominal pain, you can press the Jianshi point of the pericardium meridian. Place your thumb between the two bones of the upper limb about 2 finger widths away from the center of the inner side of the wrist. Press hard 3-5 times for 1 minute, and then repeat the press on the other side. Pressing the Waiguan point can help relieve pain in the upper body. Place your thumb on the middle of the front end of the upper limb, 2 thumbs' width away from the wrist joint. Press for 1 minute, then repeat pressing on the other side, 2-3 times each time.

3. Diet and health care

Drink more water and eat more fruits and vegetables: Patients should drink more water and avoid stimulants such as coffee, soda, and cigarettes. Eat more beneficial foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and grains.

Eat more oats: Regular consumption of oats can improve the overall condition of nerves. Chopped oatmeal can be brewed in warm water for 2 minutes and filtered to become a tonic. Drink 1-4 grams a day. To relieve skin itching, wrap oatmeal in fine cotton cloth and hang it under the shower head, and take a bath with the water rinsed with oatmeal.
