Why did I lose weight for no reason?

Why do you lose weight for no reason? There are many reasons for this phenomenon. It may be caused by gastrointestinal dysfunction. Although the amount of food eaten every day is almost the same, the absorption is reduced, resulting in weight loss. This phenomenon can also occur in some wasting diseases, and the common hyperthyroidism is a typical example. There are also some life-threatening reasons for weight loss that should arouse our more attention, as they may be caused by some kind of tumor.

In daily life, some people suddenly become thinner after not seeing them for a few days. Of course, many people nowadays pay attention to losing weight, but if the body suddenly becomes thinner for no reason other than weight loss, you should be highly vigilant. The first reason you should consider when you suddenly lose weight is cancer.

1. Malignant tumor is a chronic wasting disease . The energy and nutrients required by tumor cells during their growth process are far greater than those of the body's normal tissues. Moreover, as the tumor grows, this consumption will increase day by day. At the same time, tumors are often accompanied by symptoms such as bleeding and fever. The toxic substances produced by the tumor will also affect the patient's appetite, making the body's nutritional intake obviously insufficient, causing the patient to become severely emaciated.

Of course, cancer isn't the only disease that can cause people to lose weight rapidly. Generally speaking, if you suddenly lose weight without any human cause within a short period of time, or if you lose more than 10 kilograms in a month, you should seek medical attention immediately even if you do not feel anything unusual in your body. Middle-aged and elderly people should pay special attention. If they suddenly lose weight, it is best to rule out a tumor first.

2. In addition , other diseases may cause weight loss accompanied by other symptoms. For example, diabetic patients will experience symptoms of hypoglycemia such as dizziness and palpitations if they are hungry for a long time; patients with hyperthyroidism usually do not lose appetite, and are accompanied by a thick neck or palpitations, insomnia, etc.; patients with cirrhosis will be accompanied by fatigue, diarrhea, etc. If you have intestinal polyps and some gastrointestinal symptoms, you can first do a blood test, such as checking carcinoembryonic antigen and alpha-fetoprotein, and then take a chest X-ray to rule out lung tumors.
