What is the cause of tonsil bleeding

It is well known that tonsils will not bleed under normal circumstances. If they bleed, it is very likely that there is a lesion or scratch. Therefore, it attracted attention. In addition, tonsillitis, secretions, tumors, resection surgery, etc. may also cause this condition. So in addition to the above factors, what other factors in life may cause tonsils? Let us take a brief look at it below.

Generally, tonsils will not bleed without obvious causes, unless the tonsils are scratched or have tonsil lesions, such as tonsil ulcers, or tonsil space-occupying lesions, or tonsil surgery, which may cause bleeding. It is best to go to the hospital for a check-up to determine whether it is tonsil bleeding or bleeding from lesions in other parts of the body, which will help with diagnosis and treatment.

Causes of Tonsillar Bleeding

1. Old bloody secretions

Generally speaking, tonsils will not bleed horizontally. The reason why you see tonsil bleeding is because of old bloody secretions. It may be nasal bleeding. After a night, the blood is moved by the cilia to the nasopharynx and discharged together with the sputum as dark brown old blood.

2. Tonsillitis

Swollen and bleeding tonsils are usually caused by tonsillitis, which is mostly caused by bacterial infection. Treatment is mainly with antibiotics. Cephalosporins or macrolide anti-inflammatory drugs can be used for treatment. If the symptoms are severe, intravenous antibiotics can be used for treatment.

3. Tonsillar tumor

Tonsillar malignant tumor is the most common malignant tumor of the oropharynx. The early symptoms of tonsillar tumor include discomfort in the throat, foreign body sensation, and pain on one side of the throat, which is more obvious when swallowing and is often not taken seriously. In the late stage, thrombotic pain intensifies, causing ipsilateral reflex ear pain, difficulty swallowing, slurred speech, difficulty breathing, tonsil hemorrhage, etc.

4. Tonsillectomy

There will be a small amount of bleeding for a period of time after tonsillectomy. This is because the wound has not yet healed completely, so there will be a small amount of bleeding. However, it should be noted that if the amount of bleeding is large, you must seek medical attention in time.
