What is the thyroid gland

Thyroid disease is a common disease in the human body. There are many types of this disease, including parathyroid disease. This disease is divided into two types: benign and malignant. When this happens, certain measures should be taken immediately to treat it. In addition, parathyroid disease also has certain obvious clinical symptoms. So what exactly is the parathyroid gland?

Thyroid cancer is the most common thyroid malignancy. It is a malignant tumor originating from thyroid epithelial cells. The vast majority of thyroid cancers originate from follicular epithelial cells. According to the pathological type, it can be divided into papillary carcinoma (60%) and follicular adenocarcinoma (20%), but the prognosis is better; follicular adenocarcinoma tumors grow faster, are moderately malignant, and are easily metastatic through the blood; undifferentiated carcinoma has a very poor prognosis, with an average survival time of 3 to 6 months. Among thyroid cancers, papillary carcinoma is the most common type in clinical practice.

The early clinical manifestations of thyroid cancer are not obvious. Patients or their families and doctors may accidentally discover a hard and uneven lump in the thyroid gland in the neck. Most of them have no subjective symptoms. The neck lump is often an asymmetric lump. The thyroid nodule may gradually increase in size, move up and down with swallowing, and may invade the trachea and become fixed. The lump is prone to compression symptoms early, such as hoarseness, shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing, or local tenderness. When the jugular vein is compressed, signs such as venous distension and facial edema on the affected side may appear, which is one of the characteristics of thyroid cancer. If the jugular vein is compressed, the jugular vein may be distended and the face may edema. This is one of the characteristics of thyroid cancer. If the jugular vein is compressed, the jugular vein may be distended and the face may be edematous, which ... a characteristic of thyroid cancer. If the jugular vein is compressed, the jugular vein may be distended and the face may be edematous, which may lead to lung metastasis, bone metastasis, and even pathological fractures. The thyroid gland should be carefully examined, and hypothyroidism is common in the late stage.

The tumor of papillary thyroid cancer is generally small and develops and changes slowly, but it can metastasize in the early stages. Often the first lesion discovered may be the metastatic lesion. Benign tumors are more common before the age of 40 and may not progress for 20 to 30 years. In the late stages, the disease progresses faster in patients over 50 to 60 years old.

Papillary thyroid carcinoma is a low-grade malignant tumor and the most common pathological type of thyroid cancer, accounting for 60% to 70% of thyroid cancer in adults and 70% of thyroid cancer in children, especially in children. About 2/3 of papillary thyroid carcinoma cases are actually mixed tumors, in which follicular carcinoma components in varying proportions can be found. The natural course of these patients is similar to that of papillary carcinoma. The current classification standards classify these patients as papillary carcinoma.
