Can I go untreated if IGE is high?

When people have a physical examination, there are many items that need to be checked. For example, the content of some important elements in the body, or whether the body's protein content meets human needs. But normally there shouldn't be a big problem, but sometimes you may find that people's ige is too high in some ranges, so you should still pay attention to treatment. But some people think that there is no big problem, so is it possible to not treat high IGE?

When IgE is severe, treatment is required and you must pay attention to the allergens. IgE is immunoglobulin. If it is higher than normal, it indicates the presence of allergens. Oral anti-allergic drugs can be taken to relieve symptoms. It is best to go to the hospital to check what the allergens are. Or parasitic infection may cause increased IgE. It should also be noted that people with allergies should be careful about their diet and avoid eating foods that are prone to allergies, such as seafood, eggs, etc. You can eat more foods rich in vitamin C, such as apples, grapes, grapefruits, etc., to improve your body's immunity, and it is best to wear a mask when going out. If there are no discomfort symptoms and the index is simply elevated, you can observe and check regularly.

Characteristics of IgE: IgE is the immunoglobulin with the lowest serum concentration, only one ten-thousandth of the IgG concentration in serum. IgE is unstable to heat and has the shortest half-life of the immunoglobulins, at only 2.8 days. The half-life of IgE bound to the cell surface is slightly longer, at 8 to 14 days. IgE is synthesized by plasma cells in the lamina propria of the mucosa at the site of allergen invasion (nasopharynx, bronchi, gastrointestinal tract). Among all types of immunoglobulins, IgE has the lowest synthesis rate and the highest decomposition rate. It is a cytotropic antibody. The IgE concentration in the umbilical cord blood of fetuses with allergic constitution may be increased. Testing the IgE concentration in umbilical cord blood can be used to assess the possibility of fetal allergic constitution.

IgE detection method: ELISA method is usually used to detect total IgE. Since the serum IgE concentration is very low, the sensitivity of the general enzyme immunoassay method is not enough to detect serum IgE. The current routine laboratory test kit for serum IgE uses biotin-antibiotin protein amplified ELISA. The IgE standards used in the kit to develop the standard curve and the IgE concentration units of the test results are different from those of other immunoglobulins. They are not expressed in mg/L, but in u/ml or ku/l.

Normal value (reference range) of IgE: Serum IgE levels are skewed in the normal population, that is, most people have a level of 0 or close to 0, and the higher the IgE level, the fewer people have it. Therefore, when calculating the mean, the geometric mean should be calculated to reflect its true situation, that is, its distribution can be approximated to normal distribution after logarithmic transformation.
