What causes headaches and nausea?

cold

Headache is sometimes a symptom and sometimes a disease. For example, a headache caused by a cold is a symptom, which is often accompanied by symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and sneezing. The headache is mainly characterized by distension and pain and a feeling of heaviness. For this type of headache, as long as you pay attention to avoiding colds in your daily life, if you have a headache after a cold, you can take ibuprofen or phencaine tablets. These two drugs can effectively relieve headache symptoms.

Headache

Migraine is one of the important causes. The symptoms of migraine are frequent unilateral headaches (more than 5 times), moderate or severe headaches, throbbing headaches or a feeling of distension and pain during attacks, and headaches aggravated by climbing stairs or similar daily activities. Attacks may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, photophobia, phonophobia, and other symptoms.

For the treatment of migraine, first pay attention to daily health care, relax mentally and maintain a good attitude. Secondly, the inducing factors should be eliminated. For example, foods containing fat, alcohol, and tyramine should be avoided. Pay attention to the combination of work and rest, maintain a quiet environment, and avoid sunlight exposure and hunger. During an acute attack, acetaminophen can be used first. It can directly reach the site of headache and take effect, thus quickly eliminating the headache.

Brain tumors

The pain level of a brain tumor headache does not fluctuate, but it gets worse over time. Movement, twisting, coughing, sneezing, lifting heavy objects, etc. will aggravate the pain, which can be relieved by lying down. Nausea and vomiting often occur.

Which acupoints should I massage for headache?

The head is the meeting point of all yang and where all meridians pass. It is connected to the meridians and has the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. Symptoms of many diseases are felt in the head. Depending on the causes of headaches, massaging the Tianzhu and Taichong points can dredge the meridians and activate the collaterals, thereby alleviating or eliminating headache symptoms.

Minor illnesses and pains are common in life, and many people choose to endure these minor illnesses and pains. For example, headaches that we often encounter in life bother many people. In this case, we can actually look for "painkillers" on our bodies and effectively relieve headaches by massaging acupoints. Massage these six acupoints: Hegu, Taichong, Fengchi, Baihui, Sishencong and temples to effectively relieve different headache symptoms.

1. Acupoint selection for pain in the entire head: Hegu point

If your entire head is experiencing throbbing pain, massaging the Hegu point can help. And because headaches are related to poor blood flow in the shoulders, the effect will be better if you combine it with massaging the Jianjing acupoint.

Location: Hegu point is on the back of the hand. When the fingers are spread out, the fold between the thumb and index finger is close to the thumb side, on the finger side of the thumb axis joint.

Key points: Place the tip of your thumb on the Hegu point of the other hand, and press along the edge of the thumb bone. You will feel very comfortable but a little painful. It’s okay, you can press with a little more force.

2. Acupoint selection for pain in the back of the head or migraine: Fengchi acupoint

Fengchi point can promote blood circulation in the head, thereby relieving pain in the back of the head and is also effective for migraines.

Location: Fengchi point is located on the left and right sides of the cervical fossa below the back of the head, about two thumbs away from the lower edge of the cervical fossa.

Key points: Press diagonally upward with your thumb and slowly raise your head to find the best stimulation angle, then move your head back and forth while pressing. You can also wrap the towel around the back of your neck, hold both ends of the towel with your hands, and tilt your head back to achieve a similar effect.

3. Acupoint selection for stiff shoulders: Jianjing point

If you do not pay attention to shoulder movements when sitting for a long time, it will cause muscle strain. Pressing the Jianjing point can solve this problem. Location: In the middle of the line between the highest bone on the back of the neck and the shoulder. Key points: Press the Jianjing point on the opposite side with your middle finger, and rotate the arm on the same side as the Jianjing point. The best pressure should be enough to feel "comfortable slight pain". The effect will be better if you have a small hair dryer in the office and use it to warm your shoulders during breaks.
