Do menopausal women still need contraception?

As we all know, if women do not want to get pregnant, they must take contraceptive measures during sexual intercourse. There are many contraceptive methods now. The most common one is for men to use condoms. In addition, women who have given birth can use IUDs. In short, it is very important for women to take contraceptive measures to avoid causing harm to the body. Everyone knows that a woman's fertility will be greatly reduced or completely lost after menopause. So do women after menopause need to use contraceptive measures when having sex?

Do menopausal women still need contraception?

Premenopause, menopause, and postmenopause are the three stages after women enter menopause, when their menstruation begins to change and eventually menopause occurs. Premenopause lasts about 4 to 5 years. If you have amenorrhea for 12 consecutive months during menopause, it means that you will no longer have menstruation. The period from the end of the last menstrual period to the end of a woman's life is called postmenopause. Women must have a question: do they still need to use contraception when having sex throughout the menopause period?

Before entering the late menopause, women in the perimenopausal period will still have a few follicles remaining. Although their ovarian function has degenerated, they can still discharge a small number of eggs. Even if the body's reproductive function decreases at this time, they are likely to become pregnant if they do not use contraception during intercourse. To be on the safe side, women still need to use contraception when having sex after their last menstrual period and for the next 12 months.

In clinical practice, many women over 50 years old still get pregnant unexpectedly even though they have been amenorrhea for several months, so they have to go to the hospital for artificial abortion. A small number of women have to have their uterus removed because of invasive hydatidiform mole. Therefore, if you have not had amenorrhea for more than 12 consecutive months, you must take contraceptive measures during sexual intercourse before this to prevent unwanted pregnancy.

When women reach a certain age and enter menopause, they no longer have eggs in their bodies and naturally cannot get pregnant. So if women have sexual intercourse at this time without taking any contraceptive measures, there will be no problem and there is no possibility of pregnancy. So there is no need to worry about getting pregnant by having sex without taking any contraceptive measures. Women generally experience menopause when they reach the age of 50. At this time, there are no eggs in their ovaries because the eggs have been discharged from the body, making it impossible for them to become pregnant.

There is a certain limit to the number of eggs in a woman's body. The earlier a woman's menstruation comes, the earlier her menstruation ends. This is a very normal physiological phenomenon and a very common difference in the physiological structure of women and men. For women, menstruation is an important manifestation of pregnancy and ovulation. Menopause means that all the eggs in the woman's body have been ovulated. At this time, the conditions for pregnancy are not met, so it is okay not to use contraception.
