Skin allergy after swimming

Skin allergy after swimming

Swimming is a very suitable sport for physical exercise. Swimming more often helps to maintain body coordination and improve lung capacity. However, some people find that they have skin allergies after swimming. The main reason for this is that the water contains some substances that cause skin allergies, such as chlorine, and other swimmers in the swimming pool may have skin diseases and may pass their infection sources to others. If you find that you have skin allergies after swimming, you should first take a shower and then do appropriate sweat steaming.

What causes skin allergies after swimming?

1. Skin allergy to chlorine

According to relevant national standards, the free residual chlorine concentration in swimming pools is generally between 0.3 mg and 0.5 mg/L. If it is too low, it will not have a disinfecting effect, and if it is too high, it will cause serious damage to the skin. If your skin is allergic to chlorine, you may develop red bumps and itchiness after swimming.

2. Caused by unqualified water quality

Since the swimming pool is open to all customers, although it is marked that people with skin diseases are not allowed to enter, it is difficult to prevent them from entering. Some people with fungal skin diseases will directly transmit the germs to other people through the pool water after entering the swimming pool. The water in many swimming pools has not been changed for a long time, and daily cleaning only relies on adding disinfectants and salvaging floating objects. Therefore, the water quality cannot be guaranteed, and the skin is prone to allergies and red bumps if soaked for a long time.

What to do if your skin itches after swimming

It is very common to develop red bumps and itchy skin allergies after swimming. Be sure not to scratch it with your hands. Scratching the skin will make it easier for bacteria and fungi to invade the skin and aggravate the allergic symptoms. If you follow the following suggestions every time you swim, you can easily solve the problem of skin allergies and itching after swimming.

1. Take a shower after swimming

Unsanitary swimming pools can mainly lead to three types of skin diseases, including fungal skin diseases, molluscum contagiosum, and plantar warts. Among them, fungal skin diseases are mostly transmitted directly in swimming pools. In addition to skin diseases, viral upper respiratory tract infections, external ear canal infections, intestinal infectious diseases, etc. may be transmitted in swimming pools.

Doctors recommend that swimming time should not be too long, and the whole body must be thoroughly washed with clean water after swimming to reduce the risk of skin diseases.

2. Steam for 20 minutes after swimming

When steaming, you will sweat a lot, which can help remove the dirty swimming pool water remaining in the skin pores, promote body metabolism, and help excrete toxins from the body. Sweating for 20 minutes after swimming can prevent red bumps from skin allergies. Notice! Be sure to drink plenty of hot water when sweating, so that toxins can be detoxified faster.

3 Anti-allergy drugs

If the skin itching and red bumps are severe, you can buy anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic topical medications, which usually improve after 2-3 days of application.
