When people are thirsty, drinking a glass of water will solve the problem, but some people still feel thirsty no matter how much water they drink. What's going on? If you still feel thirsty after drinking a lot of water, it means that your body is lacking a lot of salt. For example, excessive sweating will excrete salt from the body, causing the body to feel thirsty due to lack of salt. At this time, you should drink some light salt water to quickly replenish the lost salt.

1. Salt deficiency

When you sweat a lot, you excrete not only water but also a lot of salt. If the body contains too little salt, the body's osmotic pressure will lose balance. At this time, the water you drink cannot be stored in the cells and is easily excreted from the body with sweat. The sweat excreted brings out salt, so a vicious cycle of drinking more and becoming more thirsty will be formed.

Therefore, when sweating a lot, you should supplement a certain amount of salt to ensure that the water in the body can be effectively absorbed. Although we keep drinking water, it "flushes" a lot of sodium out of the body, so the more we drink, the thirstier we become.

If you want to avoid feeling thirsty, just add a small amount of salt to the water. Just like patients with diarrhea are afraid of dehydration, just add a little salt to the water.

2. The indoor temperature is too dry

If the indoor climate is dry, the more you drink, the thirstier you become. This is because the water you drink will quickly evaporate and be lost. Of course, when the condition is more serious, you should be alert to immune diseases, also known as Sjögren's syndrome. It is not just thirst, but also includes dryness of various mucous membranes, such as dryness of the eyelid conjunctiva. You should go to the hospital for medical treatment in time.

The solution must start with a dry indoor environment. Simply drinking water will not work. The primary issue in winter is to solve the dry indoor environment. For example, you can use a humidifier indoors.

3. Drink to prevent diabetes

The typical symptoms of diabetes are increased drinking, increased eating, increased urination, and weight loss. Due to polyuria, excessive water loss occurs, intracellular dehydration occurs, and the thirst center is stimulated, requiring drinking water to replenish the water. Therefore, the more you urinate, the more water you naturally drink, forming a proportional relationship.

Check whether you have other symptoms of diabetes, such as increased appetite, increased urination, weight loss, etc. If you are really worried, it is recommended that you check your blood sugar. If you really have diabetes, drink water when you are thirsty and don't restrict your water intake too much, because this is a form of self-protection for the body. Once your blood sugar is under control, you will naturally stop feeling thirsty.
