How big can a baby crib sleep?

After having a baby, most families will usually choose a more comfortable crib for the baby. The quality of the crib and the length of time it is used are closely related to the baby. Generally, parents will choose some more expensive and high-quality cribs, but for ordinary families, it is often a considerable expense, so they are generally more concerned about the usage time of the crib.

How big can a baby crib sleep?

If you choose a smaller, rocking crib, it can generally only be used by your child for one year, because after one year the child's weight increases significantly, and they will roll over and walk around, so these small cribs are no longer suitable for them.

If it is a larger crib, it can be used until the child is 3 to 4 years old. If parents choose a splicing crib that can be spliced together with the adult bed, then it can be used until the child is separated into separate beds.

The first thing to consider when buying a crib is safety. As babies grow up, they will constantly try new movements, such as rolling, crawling, standing, etc. If the crib does not have guardrails or is too high, it will easily cause the child to fall and get injured during the growth process.

In addition, there are very strict requirements for the materials of cribs. If the materials are poor, they may contain some chemical substances that are seriously harmful to the baby's health. These are easy to cause children to become sick, so special attention must be paid.

When using a crib, you should pay attention to the correct placement of the crib. First of all, you should consider whether the location is safe, and avoid direct sunlight when placing it. In addition, you should regularly check the movable parts of the crib to avoid loose screws in the crib.

How to choose a baby crib

1. Safety standards: Safety should always be considered first, and cribs must meet strict safety standards.

China's 3C standard, the United States' ASTM F1169, Europe's BS EN 716, Australia and New Zealand's AS/NZS 2172. Among them, the 3C standard is the lowest, and the other standards are very high and suitable for baby use.

2. Bed edge fence: Try to choose a cylindrical fence. The distance between two fences should not exceed 6 cm (this is the new standard number) to prevent the baby from sticking his head out from the middle. Some parents like cribs with complex patterns and more carvings. In fact, such cribs are not safe enough for babies. Because the raised carvings on the bed rails or bed body can easily get caught on the baby's clothes, the baby may get hurt when trying to break free.

3. All surfaces of the crib must be painted with a protective layer to prevent cracking: Babies who are growing teeth like to chew things with their mouths, so the double-sided horizontal bars on the edge of the bed must be equipped with protective covers (anti-bite strips). Parents should pay special attention to the fact that cribs made of metal materials must not contain lead or other elements that are harmful to the baby's body. Materials such as railings and paints are non-toxic and contain no heavy metals (such as lead, potassium, cadmium, chromium, mercury, etc.).

4. Cushioning pad: The easy-to-tear plastic pad surrounded by cloth inside the crib can protect the baby's head. The bib pad should have at least six tie-down points; keep the tie-down straps as short as possible to prevent the baby’s neck from being strangled. Bumper pads should be removed as soon as your baby steps onto them, as they may serve as stepping stones for your baby to climb out of the bed.
