What are the six hormone tests included in pregnancy preparation?

Nowadays, people all know the importance of eugenics, especially those educated young couples. Before preparing to have a baby, they will go to the hospital for a check-up in advance, which is what we often call a pre-pregnancy check-up. It is important to remind everyone that the pre-pregnancy check-up needs to be carried out by both men and women at the same time. There are many items that need to be checked, including six hormone tests. The main examination items are as follows.

Six hormone tests for pregnancy preparation:

1.ABO hemolysis. ABO hemolytic disease is a common hemolytic disease caused by maternal-fetal blood type incompatibility. This examination is mainly used to avoid the occurrence of such disease.

2. Urinalysis. This test helps in the early diagnosis of kidney disease. The ten-month pregnancy is a huge test for a woman’s kidney system. The increased metabolism of the body will increase the burden on the kidneys.

3. Six items of sex hormones. The test includes six items: testosterone, estradiol, progesterone, luteinizing hormone, prolactin and follicle-stimulating hormone. It is mainly used to diagnose ovarian diseases such as irregular menstruation.

4. Liver function. Liver function tests not only include a full set of hepatitis B tests, but also include tests on blood sugar, bile acid and other items. If a woman is a hepatitis patient, after pregnancy, the hepatitis virus can be directly transmitted to the child or cause serious consequences such as premature birth.

5. Complete set of deformity removal. The examination includes three items: Rubella, Toxoplasma, and Cytomegalovirus. About 60%-70% of women will be infected with the rubella virus. Once a woman is infected, especially in the first three months of pregnancy, it will cause miscarriage and fetal malformations.

6. Reproductive system. This examination routinely screens women's leucorrhea to detect gynecological diseases such as trichomoniasis, fungal infections, mycoplasma and chlamydia infections, and vaginal inflammation, as well as infectious diseases such as gonorrhea and syphilis. If a woman suffers from gynecological diseases or sexually transmitted diseases, it is best to undergo thorough treatment before considering pregnancy. Otherwise, there may be a risk of miscarriage or premature birth.

Six-item test time for sex hormones

Pay attention to timing before conducting the six sex hormone tests. The best time to check endocrine system is 3-5 days after menstruation. This period belongs to the early follicular stage and can reflect the functional status of the ovaries. However, for those who have not had their menstruation for a long time and are eager to know the test results, they can have the test at any time. The time will be taken as the time before menstruation, and the results will refer to the test results of the luteal phase.

The most accurate result is obtained when a woman has her blood drawn on an empty stomach at 9 a.m. on the 3rd to 5th day after her menstrual period. Women with infertility, amenorrhea, or long-term amenorrhoea can be examined at any time, but it is best to do so on an empty stomach.

As long as men do not do strenuous exercise and lead a regular life, they can take the six sex hormone tests at any time between 8 and 11 a.m. on an empty stomach.

The six items of sex hormone examination are different and the attention methods are also different. The inspection content can be a full check or a single item check.

1. To check estrogen, progesterone, and follicle-stimulating hormone, 2 ml is required for each test, also after venous serum separation.

2. To check testosterone, 2 ml of venous serum is drawn. The commonly used method is radioimmunoassay, which can be measured after the serum is separated.

3. Prolactin should be checked on an empty stomach, with serum drawn around 9 a.m.

4. Check luteinizing hormone. Although it is also a radioimmunoassay test, because luteinizing hormone is secreted in a pulsed manner, it is best to collect samples 3-4 times within 1 hour and then mix them together for measurement, which is more accurate.
