My lower abdomen is bloated a few days after sex

A survey shows that the age at which young people first experience sex is decreasing every year. Many younger people do not know much about sex. Most of the time, because of momentary impulse or novelty, they do not know how to protect themselves during sex. Some women say that their lower abdomen is bloated a few days after having sex and wonder if they are pregnant. Here are some basic knowledge about sex life.

1. Causes of abdominal pain after sex

Why do you have stomach pain after having sex? It is related to many factors. First of all, the possibility of gynecological inflammation should be considered, such as: endometritis, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, cervicitis, pelvic congestion syndrome, etc., and whether the sexual life is too frequent or the movements are too large and too violent should also be considered. It is recommended to conduct specific examinations and then symptomatic treatment.

1. Physiology

During sexual intercourse, the twitching of the male penis can cause severe stimulation to the female vagina, abdominal cavity and pelvic organs. Women may experience shortness of breath and involuntary contractions of the entire body, which can cause pain. However, because sexual excitement masks the pain, the pain often only manifests itself after sexual intercourse. This is the most common situation. This post-coital abdominal pain is tolerable and will go away on its own. Some people want to cool down after sexual intercourse, such as blowing an electric fan too hard, which may cause paroxysmal abdominal pain in the lower abdomen.

Secondly, sometimes the genitals may feel painful and uncomfortable after sex. This may be due to the intercourse lasting too long or being too intense. There is no need to panic. If the above symptoms occur after each sexual intercourse, the cause should be found out, timely treatment should be sought, and sexual intercourse should be suspended to avoid aggravating the condition and symptoms. When there is urethritis or inflammation of the urethra, sexual intercourse causes local irritation. As the perineal muscles contract, the muscles around the urethra and perineum also contract synergistically, and spasmodic dull pain and discomfort will reappear for a period of time after intercourse.

Young women who have little sexual experience and whose bodies are not fully developed are more likely to experience this type of abdominal pain because their bodies are unable to adapt. Some people are emotionally nervous or have psychological disorders, and experience vaginal spasms before sexual intercourse, which are reflected in the abdomen and cause pain. However, this type of pain is usually more obvious during sexual intercourse. Even if there is still discomfort after sex, the symptoms are mild and will not last for a long time. As long as you rest well afterwards, you will soon return to normal.

2. Pathology

If you have obvious abdominal pain after sex and cannot recover for a long time, it is likely a sign of disease. Patients with endometriosis, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, and ovarian and uterine tumors may experience abdominal pain after sex. The only difference is the cause and the degree of pain.

The influence of sexual life, especially orgasm, can easily cause the uterine appendages, bladder and other pelvic organs to shift and pull on the surrounding tissues, thus causing abdominal pain, but most of them can be relieved and disappear on their own. During sexual intercourse, the man's excessive force and squeezing increase the woman's abdominal pressure, affecting the intestinal movement and sometimes reverse peristalsis. It can also manifest as paroxysmal abdominal pain.

When women suffer from vulvitis or vaginitis, they often feel pain during sexual intercourse, which is more obvious after the end. This requires going to the hospital for examination immediately. There is inflammation in these parts, and there is usually local congestion and swelling. During sexual intercourse, the local congestion becomes more severe. Mechanical stimulation during sexual intercourse and strong contraction of the vaginal muscles during orgasm can aggravate the pain and discomfort in the genitals.

Patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease have difficulty eliminating inflammation and usually experience dull abdominal pain that will not flare up without stimulation. However, if you have sex during menstruation when your resistance is weak and you are tired, or if you have sex frequently, the pelvic movements will be too intense and inflammation will occur at any time. At the same time, due to the inflammation, the adhesions between the uterus and its appendages are pulled vigorously, and the abdominal pain will become more severe. Normally, tumors in the uterus or ovaries do not cause any pain at all, but during sexual intercourse, the tumor may twist or rupture, and acute or chronic abdominal pain may occur.

Cervicitis or cervical erosion, under the direct stimulation of sexual intercourse, especially the contraction of the uterine cervix during orgasm, can lead to persistent discomfort in the genitals afterwards, and sometimes there will be a small amount of vaginal bleeding.

Endometriosis causes abdominal pain because the endometrium originally in the uterine cavity moves into the pelvic cavity. During menstruation, the pelvic cavity also has menstruation, and menstrual blood accumulates to form chocolate cysts. Generally speaking, patients experience abdominal pain during their menstrual period. However, if a man's penis is too long or if he moves too violently during intercourse, it may hit the lesions of pelvic congestion. In addition, the contraction of the vagina and uterus during sex will also affect the lesions. Therefore, when the affected area is irritated, abdominal pain will often occur for most of the day, and severe cases may take two or three days to relieve; the degree of pain is often severe, like an electric shock.

Finally, for the problem of abdominal pain after intercourse, if obvious and long-lasting abdominal pain occurs after sex, you should quickly find out whether there is any organic lesion and treat it symptomatically.
