Foot deformity and valgus

Foot deformity and valgus

We often see many mothers bringing their children to plastic surgery hospitals. This is because some children may have foot deformities that lead to eversion, which affects their normal walking and even makes their personal image look ugly. As parents, we all hope that our children can grow up healthily and smoothly. What should we do if their feet are deformed and everted?

Recently, many new mothers have asked what is the cause of children's foot valgus?

There are many reasons for children's clubfoot. Generally, clubfoot is caused by genetics. Patients with clubfoot need to undergo surgical treatment. Only surgical treatment can help patients with clubfoot completely get rid of the condition. Now let us learn about the disease of clubfoot.

What is the cause of hallux valgus in children? Experts point out that in children with hallux valgus, the first metatarsal bone is inverted, the angle between the first and second metatarsal bones increases, and the metatarsal hallux joint is slightly subluxated; a bone spur forms on the inner side of the foot due to long-term friction from the shoe upper, and the local skin thickens, and in severe cases, it becomes red, swollen and inflamed, forming what we call bunion. If hallux valgus is severe, the second toe will be pushed to the back by the big toe, forming a hammer toe. The onset of hallux valgus is also related to genetics. In addition, often wearing pointed shoes or high-heeled shoes, standing for too long, and walking too much can easily cause hallux valgus in children. Genetics is also one of the causes of hallux valgus in children. Non-surgical treatment of hallux valgus in children: For patients with mild hallux valgus and relatively mild pain, treatment can be achieved by massaging the big toe, moving the big toe toward the inside of the foot, etc. You can also put a cotton pad between the big toe and the second toe, or tie a straight splint on the inside of the big toe at night to straighten the big toe. In addition, walking barefoot on sand frequently can exercise the muscles of the feet and delay the progression of the disease.

Surgical treatment of hallux valgus in children: suitable for patients with severe pain and serious deformity. The latest treatment for hallux valgus is surgery that mainly involves removing the bursa and hyperplastic bone. If the joint capsule on the inside of the metatarsophalangeal joint is too loose, it can be tightened by overlapping and suturing part of the joint capsule. Adductor pollicis tenotomy and first metatarsal osteotomy are also commonly used.
