How to control an oversized fetus

How to control an oversized fetus

During the growth process of the fetus, it is best for it to develop according to a normal weight, because whether the fetus is too large or too small, it will have a certain impact on the child or the pregnant woman. The oversized fetus is a problem that many pregnant women have. A fetus that is too large is not a good thing as it can lead to difficult delivery. So, if the fetus is too large, how can we control it?

1. Eat small meals frequently and have balanced nutrition

The normal weight gain of an expectant mother before giving birth should be between 12.5 and 15 kg, but many expectant mothers gain 5 kg as soon as they become pregnant. Experts remind expectant mothers that reasonable and balanced nutrition is the material basis for maintaining their health and fetal growth and development, but consuming too much will cause the fetus to be too large. Expectant mothers should eat small meals frequently, eat natural foods as much as possible, eat less high-salt and irritating foods, and their weight gain should not exceed 1 kilogram per week.

2. Check regularly

Expectant mothers who are prone to macrosomia should have regular checkups, especially when they are about to give birth. They can do both general examinations and ultrasound examinations. For those whose pregnancy is delayed for too long and who are unable to have a natural birth, cesarean section and other options should be adopted as soon as possible to reduce the risk factor.

When you find that the fetus is underweight, it is best to first check whether there is a problem with the placenta or other functions. If the fetus is underweight due to disease factors, as long as the disease is controlled, the fetal weight will naturally catch up. A balanced diet will ensure your baby’s weight is normal.

3. Take supplements at different time periods

During the 12 weeks of pregnancy, you should supplement more vitamins, folic acid, iron and calcium to help the fetus develop healthily; starting from the 4th month of pregnancy, you can focus on increasing the intake of protein and amino acids. As for fats, no additional intake is needed because the daily diet already contains a lot of fat. If the expectant mother is already overweight, she should reduce the intake of pasta and fruit juice.

It is not a good thing for a fetus to be too big or too small. Maintaining a normal weight is the healthiest. Some experts have pointed out that a fetus weighing about 6 pounds is the smartest and healthiest. Therefore, expectant mothers should pay attention to nutritional supplements during pregnancy and control their weight during pregnancy.
