Back pain while walking is a problem that troubles many people. Some people need to stop and pat their waists every time they walk for a while, otherwise they will find it difficult to continue. People who often suffer from back pain when walking are those who need to bend over frequently or do heavy physical work. Due to the high intensity of work and excessive frequency of body activities, prolonged fatigue will cause muscle pain. If this is not the case, then there may be a medical condition causing the problem. So, what is the reason for lower back pain when walking? If you often bend over, such as loaders; or often stand, such as chefs, you may suffer from lumbar muscle strain or lumbar disc herniation. The identification method is: clench your fist and tap the painful area. If the pain is relieved and the pain is limited to the waist, it is most likely lumbar muscle strain. If the pain worsens and is accompanied by radiating pain to the lower limbs, it may be lumbar disc herniation. The pain is characterized by pain in the back of the thigh, the outside of the calf, and numbness may occur in the dorsum of the foot. If none of these are the case, lumbar spondylolisthesis (with a history of trauma) can be considered. If accompanied by morning stiffness, ankylosing spondylitis may be considered (more common in men aged 16-30, and rare after the age of 50). Low back pain is a very common symptom. It is recommended that you go to the hospital to take an AP and lateral X-ray of the lumbar spine when you have time, which may help with diagnosis. 1. The psoas major is the only muscle that connects directly from the torso to the lower extremity. One end is connected to the lumbar spine and the other end is connected to the femur, which also determines one of its important functions: stabilizing the lumbar spine. During walking, the psoas major muscle plays a major role in stabilizing the lumbar spine and completing the leg lift. 2. If the psoas major muscle is too tight when taking a step, it will not be able to maintain the stability of the spine, causing the waist to bend forward; when turning to support after the step, the waist will hyperextend backwards, causing excessive load on the waist. If this continues for a long time, it is easy to cause low back pain. 3. Lack of exercise leads to If you don't exercise regularly, but walk for a long time, your muscles and joints may not be able to adapt to the exercise, resulting in uncomfortable symptoms such as back pain. 4. Lactic acid accumulation causes Walking for too long and exercising too much will cause a large amount of lactic acid to be secreted. If it cannot be broken down and excreted from the body in time, it will accumulate in the body and cause muscle soreness. It may also be the cause of back pain. 5. Caused by waist disease People who suffer from lumbar diseases such as lumbar muscle strain and lumbar disc herniation will have symptoms of lower back pain, and walking for a long time may aggravate the pain. 6. Wrong walking posture Incorrect posture when walking, such as twisting the waist, hunching over, and leaning forward, will cause the waist muscles to be in a state of constant tension, making the waist muscles bear a heavier load, leading to lumbar muscle strain and causing pain. |
