When will kumquat bloom and bear fruit

Many people don’t know much about when kumquat will bloom and bear fruit. Generally, it will bloom after two years. After the fruit is ripe, in order to prevent it from being too shriveled, put it in water and prevent it from being eroded by insects. Let’s take a closer look at when kumquats bloom and bear fruit.

1. Long flowering and fruiting period

1. After being planted for one year, it will bloom in the second year. It mainly uses the treetops that grow in spring as the mother branches for flowering and fruiting. It can bloom four times in a whole year, but the fruits grown from the first flower are the largest.

2. It flowers for the first time in mid-to-late June, the second time in July, the third time in August, and the fourth time in early September to October. It usually takes about 150-170 days from flowering to fruit ripening.

2. Maintenance during the flowering and fruiting period

1. First of all, the amount of water should be less than usual, and do not add fertilizer. After the flowers wither, the fruits have just grown for about ten days. During this time, you cannot water it too much, otherwise the newly grown fruits will easily fall off.

2. Wait until the fruit has grown steadily before you can return to normal watering. There should be a certain amount of water in the pot. When the fruits are ripe, you should increase the amount of watering. Do not add fertilizer during the early stage of fruit growth, otherwise the fruit will fall off. Wait until the fruit is as big as beans, then add a small amount of fertilizer.

3. During the fruit growth period, some fruits that grow too densely, diseased fruits and small fruits should be removed to make the nutrients more concentrated. At the same time, you can also remove the fruitless branches to give the fruits more space and allow sunlight to penetrate. After the fruit sets, if new shoots grow, they must be removed in time, otherwise it will not only waste nutrients but also affect fruit setting.

4. In order to prevent the leaves from shrinking and the fruits from shrivelling, you should soak the tobacco in water and then use this water to spray the tree. This can help it avoid insect infestation, make the fruits grow healthier and the leaves greener.
