Myeloma, as the name suggests, is a tumor that grows on the bone marrow. Tumors are a relatively dangerous disease and have a certain possibility of worsening. If a tumor worsens into cancer, the impact on the patient can be fatal. Therefore, when symptoms of myeloma appear, patients must go to the hospital for treatment in time to prevent the disease from worsening and endangering their health. 1. What is myeloma? Multiple myeloma (MM) is the most common type of malignant plasma cell disease, also known as myeloma, plasma cell myeloma or Kahler disease. Although the disease was described as early as 1844, multiple myeloma was not widely understood and recognized until Kahler reported a detailed case in 1889. Multiple myeloma is characterized by the malignant proliferation of monoclonal plasma cells that secrete large amounts of monoclonal immunoglobulins. Malignant plasma cells proliferate uncontrollably, infiltrate extensively, and a large amount of monoclonal immunoglobulins appear and deposit, while normal polyclonal plasma cell proliferation and polyclonal immunoglobulin secretion are inhibited, thus causing a series of clinical manifestations such as extensive bone destruction, recurrent infections, anemia, hypercalcemia, hyperviscosity syndrome, renal insufficiency, and leading to adverse consequences. 2. Complications 1. Fractures Pathological fractures are common in skull, pelvis, ribs, spine, etc. 2. Hypercalcemia The incidence of myeloma combined with hypercalcemia in European and American patients can reach 30% to 60%, and clinical manifestations may include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, polydipsia, polyuria, and coma. 3. Kidney damage is a common and important complication of MM and one of the main causes of death in patients. 4. Hyperviscosity syndrome occurs in 10% of MM patients and is often manifested by decreased vision, impaired consciousness, central nervous system disorders, heart failure, etc. 5. Complications of the blood system: anemia, bleeding, and thrombosis. 6. Infection: Infection and fever may occur repeatedly during the course of the disease. Such as skin infection, lung infection, etc. 7. Amyloid degeneration causes corresponding clinical manifestations, including tongue hypertrophy, parotid gland enlargement, myocardial hypertrophy, heart enlargement, diarrhea, peripheral neuropathy, hepatosplenomegaly, etc. 8. Nervous system damage The incidence of MM combined with nervous system damage is 28.6% to 40%, including spinal cord compression, nerve root spinal cord compression, etc. 3. Diet and health care The diet should be light, and choose foods that inhibit excessive bone marrow proliferation, such as kelp, laver, kelp, clams, and almonds. Choose foods that are anti-thrombotic, blood-enriching, bone-strengthening and spleen-reducing according to the symptoms. During the stable period, you can take "Kangxuening" medicinal tea for a long time. ① Dietary recipe for inhibiting excessive bone marrow proliferation: peach blossom fish fillet: appropriate amount of herring meat, 10g of peach kernel crisp. Cut the fish into shreds and stir-fry until cooked. Applicable to all types of multiple myeloma. ② Anti-thrombotic diet therapy recipe: Hawthorn sweet soup: 50g hawthorn, 50g safflower. Cook soup as snack. Suitable for patients with multiple myeloma associated with hyperviscosity. ③Dietary therapy for blood supplementation and anti-consumption Astragalus and Tremella Soup: 9g of Astragalus, 12g of Tremella, add 300ml of water, simmer for 1 hour, add appropriate amount of rock sugar, take once a day. For the treatment of multiple myeloma in remission, Qi and Yin deficiency, dry mouth, night sweats, and insomnia. |
