What are the causes of swollen feet caused by kidney disease

Many people have swollen feet for no reason. However, this phenomenon is easily overlooked by everyone, who think it is caused by overwork. In fact, there are some diseases that can also cause swollen feet, such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and kidney disease, etc. Therefore, it is best for patients to go to the hospital for regular examinations and be hospitalized if necessary. So what are the causes of swollen feet caused by kidney disease?

First, what are the causes of swollen feet caused by kidney disease? Swollen feet in patients with kidney disease are actually a kind of edema, which can be divided into two types: renal edema and nephritic edema. Nephrotic edema: usually occurs in primary glomerulonephropathy and nephrotic syndrome caused by various other reasons. The pathogenesis of this edema is mainly due to the decrease in plasma colloid osmotic pressure: in kidney disease, a large amount of urinary protein causes hypoproteinemia, which leads to a decrease in plasma colloid osmotic pressure, increased fluid filtration in capillaries, and a significant decrease in fluid recovered from interstitial spaces, ultimately forming edema.

Second, the effective blood volume decreases: the extravasation of plasma reduces the effective blood volume, reduces the secretion of natriuretic hormone, and increases the reabsorption of sodium by the renal tubules, further aggravating water and sodium retention and causing worsening edema. Nephritic edema: mainly seen in acute nephritis, or some rapidly progressive nephritis, chronic nephritis and other glomerular diseases.

What are the causes of swollen feet caused by kidney disease? The pathogenesis of this edema is that when acute nephritis occurs, some patients develop congestive heart failure due to increased blood volume, high blood pressure and other reasons, which aggravates water and sodium retention; the static pressure of capillary fluid increases, causing excessive movement of capillary fluid to the tissue space and causing edema. Patients should pay attention to edema caused by kidney disease. During the period when kidney disease causes swollen feet, you must pay attention to your diet. Be sure to eat less food that causes edema. At the same time, you can also take methods such as massage to eliminate edema. Don’t be too afraid of edema, because edema will disappear after a while.
