What is the difference between caries and tooth decay

People think that there is not much difference between dental diseases. Most of the dental diseases in life are caused by tooth decay. In fact, there is a big difference between caries and tooth decay, and they often occur in people of different ages. It will slowly turn into a hole and finally start to ulcerate, causing redness and swelling of the gums.

Overview

Tooth decay is what we call tooth decay in our daily life. It is a common dental disease with a high incidence rate, and it often occurs in children and young people. Tooth decay is also an important cause of tooth loss. Caries is actually another way of saying tooth decay. At the beginning of tooth decay, the teeth will become soft, slowly turn into a hole, and pain will begin to appear. If not treated in time, it will become more serious and cause periodontitis and other diseases. Caries and tooth decay are the same dental disease, just called differently. So how should we prevent tooth decay in our daily lives? Let’s take a look at it together.

Steps/Methods :

1. Try to eat less high-sugar foods. Because sugar is an important cause of tooth decay, if you eat too much high-sugar food, it will affect the balance of acidity in the mouth and reduce the resistance of the mouth. Once the oral cavity's resistance is reduced, various bacteria begin to multiply and erode the teeth, which can easily cause tooth decay.

2. Use a good quality toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste to clean your teeth. The bristles of a toothbrush should be soft and thin, as they are wear-resistant and easy to dry. Try to replace your toothbrush once a month, and no more than three months at most. Also, it is best to floss every day. Flossing can keep your teeth healthy and prevent tooth decay.

3. Brush your teeth every morning and evening, especially before going to bed. After a day of eating and chewing, there are already a lot of food residues, tartar, plaque, etc. in the mouth. Brushing your teeth is the most effective way to remove dental plaque. If you don’t brush your teeth before going to bed, it will cause bacteria to grow and threaten your dental health.

Note :

We must develop good living habits in our daily lives, not eat too much high-sugar food, and insist on brushing our teeth in the morning and evening. Especially for children who love to eat sweets, we should help them develop the good habit of brushing their teeth in the morning and evening.
