Bend the first joint of the finger

Bend the first joint of the finger

The hands are connected to many parts of the body, and some physical diseases can be relieved by massaging the hands. Among them, the fingers play a very important role. There are some joints on the fingers that connect every part of the fingers, enabling better movement and bending. However, the joints in the human body are prone to pain problems. Some people find that the first joint of their fingers is very bent when they move their fingers. What's going on?

There are so many places where we need to use our hands in our daily lives. If there is pain when bending the finger joints, it will make the patient feel uncomfortable and inconvenient. Many simple things may not be completed in normal times. Therefore, it is particularly important for patients to understand the causes of finger joint bending diseases and treat them in time.

If your fingers are stiff and painful when you bend them, especially at the metacarpophalangeal joint of the middle finger, the most likely cause is trigger finger. Other possible causes include degenerative arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout and Dupuytren's contracture.

Trigger finger occurs when the flexor tendon forms nodules or thickens, which prevents it from passing smoothly through the first ring pulley near the metacarpophalangeal joint. If you clench your fingers and then fully straighten them, you will feel pain, jamming, or clicking, which is the trigger phenomenon, but not every patient will experience it. To avoid the trigger phenomenon, patients sometimes avoid fully flexing their fingers.

If the doctor confirms that it is caused by trigger finger, local steroid injection can relieve the symptoms of most patients. If several steroid injections are still ineffective, surgical treatment is required. The surgical treatment of trigger finger is a relatively simple outpatient surgery that only requires local anesthesia. The above analysis shows the causes of pain in finger joint bending. It can be said that most of the pain in finger joint bending is caused by disease. If the patient does not receive treatment, it is unlikely to return to normal. Patients cannot just seek to alleviate symptoms, but should treat the root cause. Only in this way can the symptoms be completely resolved and a healthy body be regained.

The tendon sheath is a double-layer, sleeve-like, closed synovial tube that is wrapped around the tendon. It is a synovial sheath that protects the tendon. It is divided into two layers that wrap around the tendon, and there is a cavity between the two layers, namely the synovial cavity, which contains tendon sheath synovial fluid. The inner layer is closely connected to the tendon

The outer layer is lined inside the tendon fiber sheath and combined with the bone surface to fix, protect and lubricate the tendon and protect it from friction or compression.

The tendon sheath has the function of maintaining normal flexion and extension of the fingers and tendon sliding. When the hand is fixed in a certain position and subjected to repetitive and excessive activities, friction often occurs between the tendon and the tendon sheath, resulting in edema and fibrosis, causing narrowing of the inner cavity. Because the path through which the tendon moves in the tendon sheath is narrow, pain and movement disorders occur. This is tenosynovitis, also known as stenosing tenosynovitis.
