Do you always feel like there is water in your ears?

There is water in the ear. The main cause of this phenomenon is otitis externa or otitis media. If you have been swimming or taking a bath recently, it is likely caused by otitis media. However, if you want to confirm the diagnosis, it is best to go to the hospital for a check-up. Only through a detailed examination in the hospital can the disease be confirmed. Symptomatic treatment will cure the disease quickly. You must eat a light diet and avoid spicy and irritating foods.

What is the treatment for otitis externa?

The harm of otitis externa is very great. This disease needs timely treatment. Understanding the treatment methods of otitis externa can help people to effectively control it. Choosing the right treatment method will help people to have health earlier. So what is the treatment method of otitis externa?

The most common and traditional treatment for otitis externa is drug therapy, and drug therapy for otitis externa generally aims to reduce the size of the perforation through antibacterial, pus drainage, and swelling reduction. However, drug therapy alone is unlikely to heal the perforation, and it is difficult to effectively treat otitis externa, which is prone to recurrence.

In addition, the treatment of external otitis can also be controlled through tympanostomy to control the progression of the disease. This treatment method is a traditional treatment method suitable for ulcerative otitis externa and cholesteatoma otitis externa. Generally, the lesions in the mastoid, tympanic sinus and tympanic cavity are connected to the external auditory canal to form an epithelial-covered cavity, so as to achieve the purpose of clearing the lesions in the mastoid, tympanic sinus, tympanic cavity and Eustachian tube tympanic opening, stopping pus discharge and obtaining dry ears. The disadvantage is that although it can cure some cases of otitis externa, it cannot eliminate the lesions and there is a possibility of recurrence.

In short, I hope people will know more about the treatment of otitis externa. Patients with otitis externa should receive treatment according to their condition. Of course, daily care is also very important, which can assist in the treatment of the disease and allow patients to regain health sooner.

Otitis externa can be divided into two categories: one is localized otitis externa, also known as furuncle of external auditory canal; the other is diffuse inflammation of the skin of the external auditory canal, also known as diffuse otitis externa.

1. Western Medicine

1. Drug treatment

(1) Early local hot compress or ultrashort wave thermal therapy.

(ii) In severe cases, antibiotics should be used to control infection. Take sedatives and analgesics.

(iii) Apply 1-3% phenol glycerin or 10% ichthyol glycerin to the ear topically, or apply the above liquid gauze to the affected area, changing the gauze twice a day. Chronic cases can be treated with topical application of a mixture of antibiotics and steroid hormones (such as prednisolone, dexamethasone, etc.), pastes or creams. Pus and secretions in the external auditory canal can be cleaned with 3% hydrogen peroxide.

(iv) Actively treat infected lesions such as suppurative otitis media, and diagnose and treat certain related systemic diseases such as diabetes.

2. Surgical treatment:

When the furuncle matures, the pus head should be punctured or drained by incision in time.

2. Traditional Chinese Medicine

Chinese medicine treatment:

The disease belongs to the category of ear sores in traditional Chinese medicine, which is mostly caused by wind-heat invasion or excessive heat toxicity. The treatment should be to dispel wind and heat, detoxify and reduce swelling.

1. Take the oral medicine Yinqiao Pills and Niuhuang Jiedu Pills orally twice a day.

2. External medications: ① Apply Coptis chinensis paste and Zijin tablets to the external auditory canal. ② Grind equal amounts of Chinese medicine calamus and aconite into powder and mix with sesame oil and drip into the ear. ③If accompanied by swelling around the ears. It can be mixed with water for external application (i.e. grind Phellodendron amurense into powder, add equal amount of gypsum and cold boiled water to make a paste and apply it to the swollen area around the ear or apply a hot and damp towel to the area).
