The harm of electric welding to human body

Many people often do electric welding due to their jobs. Everyone knows that electric welding itself does not have any radiation, but the heavy metals produced by electric welding are harmful to the human body and may also affect male fertility. Electric welding is done under high temperature conditions, which can cause the local temperature of the scrotum to be relatively high, which generally causes abnormalities in male semen. Therefore, you must take protective measures when welding.

Hazards of "electric welding":

1. If you don't wear a welding helmet and look directly at the welding process, it will cause mild burns to your eyes, which is what welders often call "eye hits". This is because it emits high-intensity light at the moment of short circuit, which is equivalent to looking directly at the sun with our eyes.

2. For the body, there will definitely be an electromagnetic field after the circuit is formed. Working in an electromagnetic field for a long time is definitely not a good thing. Another point is that the gas volatilized from the welding flux of the welding rod during welding is toxic, which is why the toxic allowance of welders is higher than that of ordinary workers.

3. The harm of electric welding to the human body is not only measured by the word "radiation". Frequent electric welding will cause certain radiation to the body. The welding arc is very bright and has strong infrared radiation, which can cause burns to the skin. Over time, the eyesight will also decline, and there will also be photoelectric conjunctivitis. When the electric light is dazzling, the eyes will tear up for a short time, which is caused by the electric arc light.

Therefore, you must wear goggles when operating. In addition, the ultraviolet light intensity of the welding arc is very high, and ultraviolet light is very harmful to human skin, so you must wear protective clothing (thicker) when operating.

4. From the perspective of eugenics, because there is an invisible ray in the arc of electric welding and argon arc welding, it can damage the seminiferous tubules in the testicles of men engaged in electric welding work, causing spermatogenesis disorders, and of course it can also affect fertility.

Kind Tips: As for the prevention method, one is to prepare a pair of protective waistbands (such as lead waistbands) to avoid or reduce damage.

Does welding have any effect on fertility?

Electric welding not only kills male sperm, but also affects the reproductive systems of both men and women.

In recent years, research on reproductive toxicity of electric welding work has mainly involved the semen quality of male workers, reproductive outcomes of female workers and damage mechanisms.

Through research, the results analysis show that female welders have increased menstrual flow, shortened cycles, prolonged menstrual periods, and increased leucorrhea. They may also experience spontaneous abortion, premature birth, dysmenorrhea, etc. In the study, the semen of male workers with manganese poisoning was uniformly grayish white in appearance, with normal pH value, and the average liquefaction time was longer than that of the control group.

The test results show that the total sperm count, sperm survival rate and active sperm rate of male workers with manganese poisoning are lower than those of the control group, and the sperm deformity rate of male workers with manganese poisoning is significantly higher than that of the control group. Therefore, it is shown that metallic manganese can affect the male spermatogenesis system, has a direct toxic effect on the development of sperm, and can kill sperm, thereby causing changes in the quality of male semen. Therefore, it will have a certain impact on fertility.

There are also reports from abroad that welding workers experience changes in sex hormone secretion and decreased sperm quality, but this has no effect on the sex ratio of their offspring.
