Is getting drunk on the face a good or bad thing?

Wine is now an indispensable drink on the table. No matter what kind of party it is, wine is indispensable. Alcohol is indispensable for business discussions and social events. I believe that everyone often sees some people in life whose faces turn red when they drink, no matter how much they drink, while some people's faces seem to show no change at all. So, what is the reason for the blushing after drinking (that is, the blushing we see in daily life)?

The flushing of the face after drinking is caused by temporary dilation of blood vessels under the skin. This is because these people have highly efficient alcohol dehydrogenase in their bodies, which can quickly convert the alcohol in the blood into acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde has the function of dilating capillaries, which can cause the face to flush and even the skin to flush, which is what we usually call "flushing the face".

After drinking, part of the alcohol will be broken down and absorbed in the stomach, and part of it will be metabolized and filtered by the liver. Drinking too much alcohol exceeds the stomach's ability to digest and the liver's ability to metabolize it. The remaining alcohol flows into the brain with the blood, changing the normal function of brain cells, causing the subcutaneous blood vessels in the face to dilate, increasing blood volume and causing the face to turn red.

If you continue to drink when your face turns red, your heart rate will speed up, your blood vessels will dilate, and your blood pressure will drop. In order to ensure blood supply to the main organs in the body, the capillaries must constrict to raise blood pressure. As a result, blood flow in the peripheral blood vessels of the face is obstructed, blood volume is reduced, and the face becomes bluish.

People who drink frequently have blood vessels that are constantly expanding and contracting. Over time, the blood vessels will become very fragile and the capillaries on the face may rupture, causing small red spots to appear on the skin. For example, rosacea is a chronic skin disease caused by long-term dilation of local blood vessels and is closely related to alcoholism.

Alcohol remaining in the blood causes changes in brain function and also affects the body's muscle activity. Therefore, a drunk person walks unsteadily and speaks slurredly.

If you drink on an empty stomach, the effect of alcohol on the human body will be greater because there is nothing in the stomach to dilute the alcohol, causing more alcohol to flow from the blood to the brain. The effect of alcohol will also increase the secretion of adrenaline, which will cause central blood vessels to constrict and have the effect of raising blood pressure. Therefore, alcoholism can also induce high blood pressure.
