Can Pu'er tea be boiled and drunk

As one of the most popular teas in China, Pu'er tea is deeply loved by people both at home and abroad. Pu'er tea sold on the market is usually divided into two categories: raw tea and cooked tea. Raw tea has a refreshing and pleasant taste, while cooked tea has a mellow taste with endless aftertaste. Both raw tea and cooked tea have unique flavors, and you should choose the appropriate variety according to your preferences. So, should Pu'er tea be boiled or brewed?

Some experienced tea lovers said: "It is better to brew ancient tree Pu'er tea, and it is best not to boil it." Because it is not easy to control the aroma and taste. In fact, this is only true for raw tea. Raw Pu'er tea cannot be boiled, as that will turn the raw tea into a "paste", with a turbid color and a stronger bitter taste, making it difficult to drink. For some aged ripe tea or old yellow tea leaves, you can actually use the method of boiling tea. Some experienced tea lovers suggest that you can keep the tea leaves of the lightly brewed ancient tree Pu'er tea. Generally, it is most appropriate to use the amount of tea leaves from two brews of tea to brew one cup of tea.

For the Pu'er tea leaves left over from daily brewing, first pour in a little boiling water like washing tea, in order to raise the temperature of the Pu'er tea leaves. Pour out the boiling water used for heating, and re-inject an appropriate amount of boiling water. The color when adding boiling water for the first time must be a light red, because the tea leaves put in are very light from daily tea brewing. After slowly heating up, the color of the tea in the pot will gradually darken. At this time, to determine whether the brewed tea is cooked to perfection and has a unique aroma, you cannot simply look at the color of the tea soup. The best standard for judgment is to smell the tea aroma coming out of the spout of the pot. If the tea has a strong jujube aroma, then you can drink it.

It should be noted that when making tea, it is recommended to pour out only half or two-thirds of the tea brewed for the first time to drink, and the remaining tea should remain in the pot, and boiling water should be added to continue heating it. This can be repeated 3-4 times.

The biggest benefit of brewing Pu'er tea (ripened tea) is, of course, saving energy and protecting the environment, which can be called waste utilization. Because the aroma of Pu'er tea that is brewed after it becomes light is very unique. In fact, boiling ancient tree Pu'er tea has a special effect. If you want to identify the taste of a Pu'er tea very delicately, then boil the tea. Any slight warehouse smell will be exposed in the boiled Pu'er tea.
